I picked up a 3600x from Amazon around Black Friday, but after doing more research the 2700x would be a better fit for me. I haven't opened the 3600x so I should have no problems getting a refund. I'm hoping Ryzen prices on Boxing Day would be at the same level as Black Friday.

The 3600x blows out the 2700x in just about every respect. The 2700x has 2 more cores, but the 3600x's cores are much better. Out of curiosity, what workload are you running where the 2700x would be better?

I think 6core 12thread handles gaming plus streaming pretty well

Actually, I'm not running anything that will make use of more cores. I currently have a i7-2600k overclocked to 4.3 GHz and it does everything I need.. even in gaming at 1440p resolution it's fine. I'm going to give this computer to a family member if I upgrade. The 2700x's IPC is more than enough for me, it comes with a better heatsink/fan, and the additional cores may be useful in the future if I keep the computer for 8 years like my Sandybridge i7. I could use the small savings towards DDR4.

I would keep the 3600x. If you really need that many core 3800x will be a better choice

I don't believe the 2600 was on sale.

Nov 28th Amazon.ca prices:
$145.99 2600X
$159.99 2700
$189.99 2700X
$229.99 3600X
$396.99 3800X

It was up for over 24 hours. All the ryzen cpu deals on Amazon started on Thursday morning and ended on Friday.

Oh

These are all sneaky prices, you'd think for 14$ more you can get a 2700 but then for 20$ more you get the 2700x then for 40$ more you can get a 3600x Face With Rolling Eyes

Not bad, you want something with alot of L3 cache but for mining I wouldn't go lower then 3700x with 8 cores.

Good discount but the regular 3600 is a much better value, so the discount isnt as meaningful. 3600 runs cooler at 65W TDP while 3600x runs 95W. I'm waiting for boxing week.

Really not sure whether to buy this now, or wait until boxing day. Any input?
