Clippers are mechanical device. It needs cleaning and adding oil to the blades. It is like changing motor oil in our cars every 3 months or 5000Km.

I clean my clippers after each use and oil it before put it away for a few weeks. Oiling will prevent the blades from rusting during storage and reduce blades wear because two blades are sliding on top of each other. I don't want hair trapped between the blades to increase resistance and cause more wear on my blades.
