I guess this is OK if you are truly desperate for a GPU, but just FYI this graphics card is almost 6 years old, and it's original MSRP was around $180 back then.

Objectively this is a horrible value. However in the context of today, I would say this is better than buying from eBay for the same price

Remember 2019 when you could buy a RX 570/580 for $100-$130 brand new from a store? Good times.

Geeze... this is brutal. I overpaid for GTX 1650 OC back in the Summer time for $240. I eventually got rid of that and bought a used GTX 1660 Ti for $375 off Kijiji.

I think it's going to be tougher on game developers. They'll need to build games that still support GPUs from 6 years ago if they want to generate revenue.

Then again, if one had the foresight to have bought this card 5+ years ago when it was cheaper, they should probably have bought $180 worth of ETH and they would now have over $54k. It is what it is, and I agree with your statement, if people need a GPU right now, this is not a bad deal.

... and just a friendly reminder that the chip shortage will very likely last throughout 2022.
Additional link for further sadness.

I use this to transcode with Plex.
Does 4k HEVC no issues. If you’re using
AMD or older intel it’s a good addition.

Plex transcodes want ram, it could care less about almost everything else.. of course being able to transcode 12 streams doesn't mean you should. As much as I hate it this isn't a bad deal if you want a 5 year old card. It literally released Oct 25 2016 at $139USD. I looked it up. They started making them again this year because they can't make enough 30xx....

Not sure I follow. Plex allows gpu transcodes. My server has almost no cpu usage transcoding 4k hevc.

The card ram. 4gb will limit the amount it can do vs 6gb or 24gb cards.

Yeah sorry. My brain is mush these days.
I think if someone has a newer intel igpu
that’s the most economical method.

I want to tell you why this is happening, but a good part of the explanation will land me an infraction.

We're here now folks, winking at a girl in the dark won't get you anywhere, the market has spoken.

This is the best of a bad situation, outside of the skeevy Brampton grey market resellers.

If you own a house, the price increase too, if you own apple, Tesla, etc stock, price went up too, if you ______, price went up too, so in the end, you spent money in some area, and make more money somewhere else…..

If you really need to play game on pc, then just go ahead buy the card you need, or play game on Xbox series s which can be bought at shoppers drug mart with 20x points once a while…..

If money is an issue, then don’t buy the card, don’t play games, and go make more money, then you can buy any graphic card you wanted….

Up vote, thx op
