Likelihood of it being this price again? I'm on the middle of finishing my basement so no extra cash, but would love this lens!

You can find it for 650 cash used in the GTA. But this is brand new with hopefully a valid warranty.

It's a great deal, but I held off as I can't find a good deal on a Z body right now. Ideally I'd get a Z5. I will wait and get a bundle deal on Kijiji etc or wait til Black Friday. I already have a Canon RP and Canon RF lens options are a lot more aggressive and interesting these days ($400 16mm f2.8, $1300 800m f11, etc)

There are amazing deals on F mount stuff all over Kijiji as many people move away from that system. You can get a good condition D610 for 500-600 bucks now. People are selling the 24-85 kit lens extremely cheap.

Unless you shoot video or are picky about size and weight, F mount gives you much more bang for the buck right now vs Z.

Ehhhh. I'm too heavily invested in the F mount. My D750 (second one) is still kicking; just a battery sensor issue. Lenses are still pristine and I love the photos that come out of it. The weight is an issue with bigger lenses buuuuut it's my bae.

Yup, plus if you shoot telephoto, the bigger lenses don't balance or handle very nicely on these new small mirrorless bodies. I suspect that DSLRs will prove far more durable than the new mirrorless bodies, but time will tell.

The big failing of Z mount is that you can't adapt screw drive mount D lenses so for that reason, Nikon full frame DSLRs will be used for a long long time.

Pretty good lens. Just got it, so not much, but here's a few shots in the evening with my Z6:

Mirrorless cameras should be more reliable due to fewer moving parts. They should also be cheaper to manufacture due to this (vs. comparable DSLR).
And the Z9 got rid of the mechanical shutter, so the only moving parts left on it are the dials.

And agree with the others, great deal on a great lens.

I use this lens for paid work all the time. Very light, great for video and cheap as chips. When I need something faster, I use a prime. The Z sensor is so good, I just bump up the ISO and use a little noise reduction in post.
