Thanks op. I have an older version that I have had for 5 years that’s starting to act weird so I picked this up. I heard this version might not be as good but it’s in the best interest of my house to do a clean swap while still using the same app.

Just a heads up to anyone considering this - August locks use two CR123/CR123A batteries which are around $3 per battery and mine seem to last 4-5 months before needing replacement.

Incorrect information.
I have this lock and it is the 4th Gen lock that needs the non-standard batteries due to it's built in wifi. This needs the bridge for wifi and uses four AA batteries. I have had it for 2 years now on my front door. Replaced batteries once.

That applies to the gen 4. If you use a bridge battery life is about a year.

I've an August Smart Lock Pro (3rd-gen) with the bridge. Is it just my bridge that goes on\off line dozens of times a day? This makes the bridge unreliable\useless for remote (away from home) unlocking. I read other people was having the same issue too but no one in the thread has mentioned they've been fighting with their bridge.

I have a bridge and it's been solid for many years

I have the same issue at one property. Every few years I have to swap out the bridge.

At another that has a surge protector, its been going strong for 3 years. I'm wondering if its related to power issues.

btw, for those that have an August bridge acting up, instead of buying a new one, can try the following which worked for mine

setup some type of timer outlet or similar to power the bridge, then have it recycle power on the daily, i.e. everyday at 2AM turn it off for 5 mins

this worked for me and saved me from buying a brand new bridge, this is the way...the RFD way

Imo absolute trash bought mine a cpl yrs ago and I can only use it in the house no remote like i used to be able to do when i just bought it. Called agust they trouble shot till eternity and then said the bridge is the problem. Decided to send me a bridge from some other company they own bcz it's the same tech apparently. That was about 2months ago and I still haven't recieved the bridge via purolator.

Everything is wrong with it now. So disappointed

I've never thought about a surge that damaged it enough to where i am now.

I've unplugged it momentarily when its in a state of disconnected, but it's never restored its Wi-Fi connection in that moment. Perhaps your idea of leaving it off for a longer period can help but not resolve it entirely.

It only supports 2.4G wifi, not 5G, is this the reason?

2.4G is more stable than 5G
