[Amazon.ca] AUKEY USB C Hub with Ethernet, 4K HDMI, VGA, Card Reader, 2 USB 3.0 -- $39.99 after coupon

Just noticed this hub is on sale and I believe this is the lowest price in history. Aukey is a decent brand so I think the quality should be good. On sale for $59.99 and there is a $20 coupon to bring the price down to $39.99 (no tax at check out).

8 in 1 Multiplied Ports: Turn a single USB C port into six ports and two card slots for data transfer, display expansion, internet connection, and charging
Alternative Video Outputs: Connect a display to your computer using either the HDMI port (4K@30Hz Max resolution) or VGA port (1080p Max resolution). If both are connected, only HDMI will output
Convenient Charging: The 60W USB Type-C Power Delivery charging port keeps charging your MacBook Pro 2017 or other compatible USB Type-C PD laptop (using the original laptop power adapter) while you’re using the other functions of the hub
Fast Data Transfer and Network Connection: USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) ports support data transfer rates up to 5Gbps. SD and micro SD card slots (USB 2.0) support data transfer rates up to 480Mbps (only one card slot can be used at a time). Gigabit Ethernet port supports 10/100/1000Mbps network speeds
Package Contents: AUKEY CB-C55 Multiport USB C Adapter, User Manual, 45-Day Money Back Guarantee and 24-Month Product Replacement Warranty Card

4K30, gents.
I aim to be inclusive and considerate of others in my posts. If I fall short of that mark, feel free to let me know in good faith, and where appropriate, I'll edit my posts. Thank you.

4k at 30 Hz will look really bad and choppy for a computer UI/environment. At the same time if you have a 4k display for your PC you don't have a need for this. Your GPU should have a 2.0/2.1 HDMI port.

Maybe movie playback? But that's the only use case that I think it 'might' be suitable for.

Would this be good for an iPad Pro? If not, is there one that is a popular choice for the iPad Pro?

Even if you connect an HDMI and VGA, you will only get one additional display. One of these 2 will mirror the display of your MacBook

Depends what you are doing. As a programmer, I use a 42 inches 4k tv at 30 Hertz with no problem for more than 2 years now... Why spend a lot of money for a 60 monitor just to work in Visual Studio...

If you're programming then you're likely moving your mouse a lot. I couldn't stand 30FPS mouse movements, drove me nuts.

You'd probably notice it sooner with scrolling text before the mouse cursor, but if that's what you work with all day it probably won't bother you. 60 Hz bothers me because I use a 144 Hz monitor, but if I had to use 60 Hz all day, eventually I wouldn't notice it anymore.

I do (move the mouse), but maybe because of a gene mutation I lost that sensitivity on my eyes :o)

I bought a similar aukey usb hub for my Note 9, and I got the message that my phone couldn't supply enough power for the hub

Hopefully this one is different/better though
When given enough time, all threads on RFD can and will go off on a tangent.

Real programmers don't use the mouse ;-)
