[Amazon.ca] BACK - 1080p HDMI Extender over Ethernet - $10 HOT!!

Was browsing thru Amazon for a HDMI extender over ethernet and ran into this extender for $50 - $40 coupon = $10!! HOT for those who need it... others on Amazon go for around ~$40-$60 for similar specs.

Not sure on reliability, but for $10 it is worth the gamble!

Allows for extending HDMI connections for up to 60M. Could be good for presentations that require long lengths and home theatre setups??

I'm sorry you don't need it, but I'm sure there is someone on this world that would need it... (I needed it too)

What is the use case or how does it work?

It will add extra clutter, wires to your existing setup, it’s mostly used for commercial setups where Wifi isn’t available- for example it gives internet through ethernet port to the attached Firestick where wifi isn’t available - that’s the only purpose

Latency is usually too high for HT/gaming setups but these are perfect in AV situations within meeting rooms, auditoriums, live video w/projectors or TVs, etc. I've used them to run budget video cameras with OBS for multi camera setups.

Short answer is that long HDMI cables can only reach a certain distance before they have weak signal. This converts the signal from HDMI to ethernet cable to allow for long distance runs.

A long HDMI cable that is active could run you around $60 and let alone the reliability of the connector (if you damage it... etc).

If you pair this up with a 100ft CAT6 cable for $22 on amazon, it only nets you around $32 total before taxes.

No, this is to transmit the HDMI video signal over an ethernet cable.

Huh? I think you have understood this completely wrong. It converts a HDMI signal to ethernet and back to HDMI on the other end? There is no WiFi involved for a firestick?

This would be good for CCTV setups wherein you have a second monitor in a different area of the house... I keep my NVR in the basement, and have a monitor in the living room...

Not sure when I would use it, but for $10 I'm sure it'll come in handy at some point.

Thanks OP!

EDIT: might be OOS. Won't add to my cart when I try to purchase it.

That is not what this is at all. It has nothing to do with wifi or an internet connection. It's about extending an HDMI connection over a long distance.

This turns Ethernet cables (up to 60 metres) into an HDMI cable.

There are lots of possible uses for this.

This would definitely be mostly used in more commercial type applications.

Kiosks, board rooms, outside displays, temporary displays, displays mounted in awkward and out-of-the-way places, buildings that already have an infrastructure of ethernet to allow multi displays, the list goes on depending on your personal Needs.

For permanent set ups like the TV in your living room, you would probably want to use the highest quality HDMI capable.

But, lots of other people there might be other applications. I have been thinking about putting a TV outside underneath an open enclosure.

It would be ideal to just run an ethernet cable into the basement to the media center.

I used to use this with my old security system to see my cameras from my garage. Eventually I switched to an NVR so this became useless, but it sure did it's job well
