Interesting. Can it also be turned forward to illuminate your face for video calls? If I don't have a light aimed at me from my monitor my face is fully-shadowed and I look like a Bond villain to my colleagues.

I probably should find a white cat to stroke during calls.....

Looks like it might be better than my current lighting. Ordered. Thanks OP.

Yes, it can but you'll go blind from the 50 LEDs burning your eyeballs.

And here I thought most people were complaining at the brightness coming from the screen itself. I guess if it's not bright enough you can use this to blind yourself!

I got it last time hoping to use it for this same purpose.

It does work, but as the other poster said, you will be blinded by the lights if you use it at anything besides the lowest setting. And even then, expect to see dots even if you happen to look at it for just a second.

If you are able to position the bar so that it's shining on your face from the side rather than directly from the front, then it'll probably be ok.

There was a layer of packaging film stuck on the bar that kind of filtered the light a bit. In hindsight, I should probably have left it on to reduce the brightness further.

What about pointing it at the roof in a dark lit area?

Tried it with my wfh setup.

No light: can see face (prob from the monitor light) but grainy
Full power: looks pretty much like normal
In between: various levels of graininess
