21.66/TB? Not exceptional but very decent. Last WD drive I ordered from Amazon came in an unsealed cardboard box. Literally not even taped shut.

Thanks OP, will have spare drives for my aging NAS drives. Was eyeing those for a while, it beats recent deals on Western Digital's website. (Finally remembered to shop through Aeroplan eStore!)

Man, they're each $10 too much. Shame, I could actually use a 6tb to replace a 4tb that's constantly at under 10GB free space.

You mean, based on the $20/TB rule? Doesn't apply here because those are NAS drives and they're worth more.

Bestbuy has the same price. I believe it was this low in December of last year.

But in saying that not all WD NAS labeled drives are made equal, and so not all NAS are actually worth more.

These models are the good cmr ones.

Bright side of RFD: Often find good deal
Dark side of RFD: Tons of stuff that I don't need but still got them because of RFD

Burst write, or constant stream? IMO burst will work with almost anything but if it's a constant stream I'd go purple. NVR are usually constant stream.

Purple has special firmware to skip any errors and move on to write to next good block. Red may re-try a few more times before give up, that being said, Red Plus is probably good enuff for casual use case of surveillance if you can afford to loose a few frames

Good price for the 6tb. BB had the 6tb red plus for $128 around black Friday so this is close to atl.
