[Amazon.ca] Brother PT-D210 Electronic Desktop Label Maker [17.99]

I've been waiting for this to come down in price and according to CCC this is the all time low. Decent reviews all around.

UPDATE: Now on back order 1-2 months.

Also, these types of labelers do not come with a power adapter, which once again, will cost you as much as the machine. This unless you want to keep using batteries and do not own rechargeable ones.

I have one of these, it is great.

I have been thinking about buying a power supply for it. The official one can be expensive.

I have also been looking at 123ink.ca for labels. They have a 10 pack of TZE-231 cartridges for $45.99. They are $5.49 each or 5 for $24.99. Shipping is free for your first order (I think it is also free for $50+ orders, might want to double check). They do have a lot of sales but these are considered OEM items and don't ever seem to be included in their sales.

Any thoughts on these or other labels? Or power supplies?

Just curious, how long do the batteries last for? I'm planning to use at home to label some boxes and cables. I'm hoping that I don't have to recharge this unit every 20 labels.

The power adapter is 12V 1A BUT, Brother decided to use center-NEGATIVE (SoB!), so be careful not to plug-in a center-positive adapter into it, may blow up if there's no reverse polarity protection lol

They last way over a year for me.. I use it very often at the office for labeling cables, and a lot of other stuff, and surprisingly it is not very heavy on battery usage.

It comes with one 0.47" (12mm) x 13.1' (4m) Black on White laminated "TZe" starter tape.

I've bought many tapes from 123ink.ca, and never had an issue. And buy in bulk, and save a little more also.. I would never pay the retail price for the genuine brother tapes.. It's crazy. Especially since you lose about 3/4" to 1" every time you print a single label. This is one of the biggest flaws of all these units, but with cheap price of the 3rd party tapes, it doesn't hurt as much, it's just annoying :)
A while back (before 123 carried colored tapes), I also tried these from amazon seller (fulfilled by amazon) and they also worked pretty well, no issues.

Now $49.xx

You can buy third party label tape for about 1/3 the price of the Brother tape. I have found the quality of the third party tape pretty good.
