[Amazon.ca] CAP Barbell Olympic Bar, 2-Inch, 1000-Pound Capacity, 7-Feet - OB-86B - THE BEAST Available for pre-order

Hi all,
notice THE BEAST bar is available to preorder on amazon again. Gets a good review according to garage gyms https://garagegymlab.com/ultimate-guide ... e-Gym-Bars
Another full review here - https://www.garage-gyms.com/cap-ob-86b- ... omparison/
No idea on an ETA but nice to know I'll get it as soon as it comes in stock again
Good to pair with the plates, rack, and bench that have been posted recently

This is a good bar, price is a little higher than I'd like but compared to Kijiji this is a steal. I have other bars (Rogue, Ivanko and used Eleiko) and in some cases actually prefer this bar since I dont need to worrry about it and the knurling isnt going to beat up my hands on higher rep sets (use a Ohio Power Bar or TPB for 10+ reps and you'll see what I mean).

Good basic bar, but no centre knurl so not great for squats.

NOTE the sleeves at the end have some pretty intense grooves, if you have plain cast iron plates you can expect a lot of metal shavings and wear on your plates over time.

I see this from some of the reviews on amazon. Any way to fix this?

I've had this bar for several years, bought at $165 so this is a perfectly fair price. I had read all of those reviews myself prior to purchasing.
I don't do oly lifts with it, just the regular big 3.

Squats are fine for me @ 275lbs, high bar, in fact I prefer no center knurl (I used to have another bar with it). Opinions seems to vary widely on this subject.
As for the grooves, yes it is kind of intense, and I do use cast iron plates, but I haven't really had much of an issue with the shavings to notice.

Ordered. Reading reviews now :)

Edited: Cancelled, no centre knurl, questionable sleeves' surface and rotation, bends at 500 lbs :(

Not the best price but we've had good success with this bar. Own 3 gyms and have purchased 4 of these anywhere between $140-$165.

Doesn't cut it for me, I was intending on breaking the deadlift record set by the Mountain a couple of weeks back.

Bought this bar about 5 years ago I think to replace one that came with a weight set that broke down. Don't use it too often anymore as went back to using a gym, but held/is holding up and haven't had any complaints. For reference, did deadlifts, bench, ohp, and squats with it. Think I might've gotten it for a bit cheaper then, but if you need it I believe this was one of the best ones at the price point (not sure if still the case, assume so though).

If I order THE BEAST bar, will I be able to deadlift 500kg?

THE BEAST
The Beast Olympic Bar by CAP Barbell measures 2185mm in length and is designed to take on super heavy workloads and is a top choice for professional weightlifters and club owners. Precision engineered for balance and long-lasting performance, this bar features 110,000 PSI tensile strength cold rolled Japanese steel. The medium-depth diamond knurled handgrips are 30mm in diameter and are designed for a tight, non-slip grip when lifting. The sleeves with bushings are designed to swivel to reduce pressure on the wrists and forearms and have a 15-inch loadable sleeve length, providing ample room to load your weights (with 2-inch center hole). The shaft (length between the sleeves) is 51.5-inches in length and will fit on Olympic benches and racks/cages. Designed with no center knurl, this bar is ideal for" cuts off there

bushings, so it may be okay for powerlifting (without the centre knurling - sounds like a pretty basic bar iMO) - you could use it for weightlifting - but it wouldn't be great,

i guess this is a covid deal? weight equipment has been wacky pricey these days

thanks for posting OP
