Yes. I chatted with tech support. They said the app is not compatible with Android 5. So I ended up using an iPhone to complete installation. Looks like the app works fine for the rest of the stuff on Note 3/Android 5. Thanks!

Starting June 26, 2019, premium subscriptions to link your myQ account to one of our premium partners will be FREE for a limited time.

doesn't that mean I will eventually have to pay?
Potentially but I believe it'll eventually become free. It's a stupid thing to charge.

wondering can't they just build the sensors into hub...

something missed in manual:
1. how to program the sensor to opener
2. how to add 2nd sensor to hub
Because the sensor is mounted on the garage door itself and senses the tilt of the door to determine if it's open/opening/closed/closing status.

They have:
wifi smart hub from OP
Internet Gateway
Home bridge

If your GDO is MyQ, you should only need one of the three devices above. If you have an iPhone and no Ethernet best to get the home bridge.

If it's a non MyQ GDO, then you need the hub in OP.

The way they name there products makes it so hard to understand what people need.
no, its the internet gateway, at work typing away so just type incorrectly

Or could be bait and switch, making people comfortable with it and then charge...

I have MyQ on both of my garage doors and experience problems at all time. One sensor always reports that garage door is left open after it is closed. Other door can't be opened using the app but the same door can be closed using the app.
Replaced batteries and tried to move sensors around without any improvements.

If you already own Chamberlain's WI-FI GARAGE DOOR, does having one of this benefit? My garage door is dying, so I was thinking about replacing it, I'm wondeirng if I should just buy wifi enabled garage door.

My Meross, keypad outside and homelink in my wife’s car work fine. Some people were getting interference, only their Meross app worked. Extending the wires away from the main unit fixes it. I don’t have anything in my truck that opens the garage because I park outside. I previously avoided MyQ because of the subscription but if it’s free right now and continues, you guys are good. I also added a Wyze cam in my garage, otherwise it’s only an icon that tells you whether the door is open. I use the Meross all the time, especially now I installed an August Smart Lock on the entry door. Let’s us in automatically and if the kids forget keys, remotely.
