Keep this in mind:
Linking your MyQ account to Google Assistant and IFTTT requires a $1 monthly or $10 annual subscription fee Easy to install in the garage

Weird. Its $99 on a different Amazon.ca link. Great price. I just returned mine cus even paying for the subscription, you cant open the door. Only close it. Too bad i couldn't score a smartthings hub before it sold out on BB for around 60 to bypass the subscription

There's no subscription required to use the myQ app.
I've integrated myQ with Smartthings as part of my home automation.

Do you have to pay any fee or do anything tricky to integrate in Smartthings?

Just have to load a custom device handler.
Instructions are straight forward.

This seemed like a really interesting product, until I read this review :(

Works pretty good but the position sensor only updates the position of the door if you use the app so opening and closing the door with the wall switch or other opener doesn't update the app.

That's odd.
I have the regular myQ gateway module, without the sensor and the app knows when the garage door is open or closed, whether I use the app or not.

I've been wanting this for a while now but was conflicted with their subscription model. I'll buy one now, but I promise they will get no more...

The house I bought already had one of these installed... for the life of me I can't connect to the thing with the app.
It apparently finds the device when the blue light blinks, but when I go to connect - it just sits there trying to connect and never does.
