[Amazon.ca] Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo 33.70$

Not the historical lowest it's ever been (25$) but it's back to pre pandemic prices.

excellent reliable cooler.

Good cooler and great value at $35 or less, but gets pretty loud under gaming load. Very good for light gaming and productivity. Tried to run a moderate OC but it wasn't able to keep up.

As a side note I went with a Dark Rock Pro 4 and very happy - now the PC is almost totally silent which is what I was trying to fix. Note: I understand it's hard to fit, completely different product class and price point.

I have one, except it is on a old PC that doesn't need to overclock anymore. It is quiet enough for me at low speeds. It definately beats the stock fan as it is much bigger so it has more airflow at a lower RPM. You can also get Plus model which has two fans on both sides for double the airflow.

If you want it quieter, you need to replace the fans with something quieter.

In 4 one as a backup. I was a bit concerned about the "contact CM for AM4 plate" note, but from the looks of the answered questions they've been shipping them with the appropriate adapter since december 2019.

The RGB Black version is only a little over a dollar more:

(It's not however the "evo" model, looks like it's more along the lines of the original).

Unless you're cooling like a 10900k or a 12 core amd cpu, I'm almost certain that your OC wasn't safe and/or unoptimized. This cooler will be good for most mid range cpus ie 3600/5600x, 3700, 9700k etc

the one above is comparing it to $80+ coolers it's a little worse but looking at actual temperatures, it doesn't seem that bad at all. However for a little more you can get the newer version of this which is more silent, better looking etc https://www.newegg.ca/cooler-master-hyp ... 6835103278

Still using the same cooler from 2010 and the CPU still runs well without being hot. Great cooler for great price.

I spent a few days on it, won't bore everyone with the details but confident I found the tipping point for this cooler. Tried a few adjustments to get it stable but ended up scaling back for stability which was still an okay result. But the main issue was noise and the DRP4 got me the best of both worlds.

While this is indeed fine for mid-tier CPUs, even at stock speed this was too loud for my personal liking. I just never noticed it before since I only recently got back into gaming.

How does this compare to the Wraith cooler included with the 3600? Is it worth buying another cooler?

Good cooler but this is hilariously huge. Make sure you have a lot of clearance in your case.

212 should fit almost any case.
I bought Noctua D15 (c/w 2 fans) with a great price recently. That thing is really huge and my case side cover cannot be closed if I install 2nd fan on radiator :)

Simple answer is not worth it.

I just installed a new cooler yesterday for my 3600. Went from the stock one to a Gammax 400v2 (similar performance to this 212.) At idle my temps haven't changed at all. I haven't got a chance to game yet so I'm hoping there's a difference under load.

A 212 is definitely better than the Wraith Stealth. If you're not overclocking and your case isn't terrible, the Stealth might be fine?

For regular non gaming loads, stock cooler is usually fine, but so so whiny!

Upgrade to get at least marginally more pleasant sound.

Likely won't see much improvements in speed, if at all. Should be much quieter though.

I revived a i7 4770k that eventually started running at 100c on full load with this cooler. Did a delid with thermal paste and thermal silicone. Delid dropped the temps 15c but this cooler made a huge difference. Dropped it to 55-60c on full CPU load. Cheaper than liquid cooling and works just as good.

Unless you have temp issues then I wouldn't waste money if you're running stable temps on stock cooler
