Amazon ATL.

Progress.

Probably best to buy early, as inflation and an expected spike in component demand won't help pricing later this year.

PC components are really in severe supply shortage. I heard all PC components prices will be rising 25% next year and there won't be any good deals during black friday or boxing day.

Is 3600 speed too slow for ddr4? Will it be compatible with upcoming Zen vcache cpus?

New AM5 Chip will be using DDR5 which will cost double or triple the price at higher MHz. It's not worth getting it unless you got lots of cash to burn.

That's zen4. There should be one more zen3 before then on the same am4 socket.

Hmmmm I see but it's only 10-15% improvement on gaming performance but the price might be higher due to shortage like it happened when first launched (paper launch). If you currently own AM4 chip it probably not worth upgrading it until AM5 probably in 2023.

So should I get some SSD and memory before then?
I see a lot of stuff on sale in canada computers now.
I wonder why they put it on sale during shortage.

It's a sales strategy most brands do. Put something on sale to lower their supply in order to drive up the demand in the near future (depleting the supply of old batch before new batch FIFO strategy).

Samsung 870 EVO 1TB was $169.99 then it was on sale for $129.99 until supply was depleted then it rose to $209.99 then it goes on sale again for $169.99. Other brands will be following the suit. It's just to create an illusion in order to make it look like a good deal but it's getting more expensive over time.

Comparing Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3600MHz Desktop Memory (CMK16GX4M2D3600C18) to the one op listed. (BestBuy Link)

Are the only differences that I would need to buy 2 of the ones listed from Bestbuy and no RGB from the BB one?

Any other difference?

There's no difference in between both except for RGB if you prefer it. They have same attribute like 3600mhz and CL18 but each stick has different capacity like yours is 8GB/stick vs 16GB/stick (Op's post). It depends on how you use it for. If you use it for gaming 16GB is enough but if you are doing video editing, simulation model, any graphic intensive that involves render better to get more capacity (>32GB ram total) based on how large the file is used for rendering.

Thanks, I do use it for video rendering, but the files are usually only between 1-2GB's in size, not sure if that makes a difference.

16GB should be enough. If you struggle with it you can always add more later.

Can this RAM be used to upgrade this Acer Desktop Acer Aspire Desktop TC-895-UA92, I5-10400, 12GB, 512GB below;

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B088X2YR3X/?co ... _lig_dp_it

Or do I need to go with the DDR4 3200 as per link below:

https://www.amazon.ca/Corsair-2666MHz-S ... 214&sr=8-7

https://www.amazon.ca/Corsair-Vengeance ... LQKS&psc=1

If so, is it worthwhile going from 12GB to 32GB?

I think it depends on whether the motherboard can support anything over the advertised 2666 MHz. It would be worth getting this if you planned on upgrading desktop in the future or potential retail value as it seems the 3200 is around the same price. However, the 3200 looks like it has faster CAS latency. I don't think the first RAM link you posted is a great price.

You could always get this and run it at 2666 MHz instead of 3600 MHz. I would assume the RGB would still work in the proprietary Mobo but I'm not sure. 12 gb to 32 gb is definitely worth the upgrade if you like to have many programs/chrome tabs/windows open.

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable with RAM can chime in
