[Amazon Canada] Crucial MX300 NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSDs (275GB -> $80something, 525GB -> $139.99, etc.)

Hello all,

Was looking for an SSD for my older laptop and I noticed that all of the Crucial MX300s are on sale on Amazon. It seems to the lowest they've been. I personally only needed the 275 and went with it but the rest also seem decent. Been using a Crucial BX (older model) for about 4-5 years now on my main computer and am very very satisfied.

275GB >> $89.87 (Now even lower! Keeps changing) https://www.amazon.ca/Crucial-MX300-275 ... B01IAGSD5O
525GB >> $139.99 https://www.amazon.ca/Crucial-MX300-525 ... B01IAGSD68
1TB >> $287.87 https://www.amazon.ca/Crucial-MX300-NAN ... B01IAGSDUE
2TB >> $567.87 https://www.amazon.ca/Crucial-MX300-NAN ... B01KKZLX46

The MX500s are also decently priced, though not on sale, however they have 25gb less than MX300s.

I'm not sure how reputable Crucial is, but the 860 Evo 250GB is $100 at BB atm:

$159 for 512GB. So $20 more essentially.
Crucial is as reputable as Intel for SSD drives and more so than Samsung. See 840 Evo debacle.

More reputable? Oh shit I just bought one of those Evos 860s for $100 lol. I thought Samsung were the top SSD brand. Rip.

Samsung drives are good but they are mostly overpriced with a brutal warranty.

Solid drives. I believe the MX300s are the older ones, the MX500s are replacing them - someone correct me if I'm wrong.

My Samsung drives have been working fine. As long as you don't need warranty you should be good. I think the Samsung is faster if that means anything to you.

Samsung royally suck at quite a lot of stuff at the moment IMO.

Their NVMe drives are good and competitively priced. But yes, I'm not a big fan of their consumer level drives. Nothing special IMO.

I would still get the MX500 over the MX300 even if you lose 25GB.

Code: Select all

				MX300 MX500
Capacity 275GB 250GB
Warranty 3 5
Mean Time To Failure (MTTF)	1.5 1.8
Total Bytes Written (TBW)	80TB 100TB
Random Read IOPS 55K 95K

The unkind souls giving thumbs down, is the deal actually bad?
