[Amazon.ca] Crucial MX500 500GB $70.99

$70.99: Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD, up to 560MB/s - CT500MX500SSD1(Z)

Standard Packaging

just bought the Samsung EVO 860 500GB from staples for $65.99 (after $10 coupon with filter), otherwise would pick this up.

Thank you, I got one last week without discount and I was able to talk to customer support to get the difference for credit.

Ordered this Feb. 15. Delivered yesterday. BUT it didn't come in the standard packaging. SSD seems new and working perfectly anyway so I didn't bother to call them about it being "standard packaging." Might be YMMV but just be aware.

Use this for external SSD for PS5?
Will SSD prices go even lower?

Can't imagine i'd fill it up with PS4 games (as that's all that will work on the external drive with a PS5)

Just the plastic case which is enclosed in a white hard mailer envelope. Not in the "standard" Crucial packaging like this:

Just FYI - dealing w/ Crucial RMA right now. Bought a MX500 1TB about 2 years ago - catastrophic failure (fails to even power on) despite not even being used very much.
Worse than that, the RMA process is brutal - first, you have to ship it to Boise, ID for support (I was under the impression that they had a CDN depot, but they dont) - so that's ~$20 shipping already.
Then, when I got my drive back, I got charged $36 from UPS for customs/brokerage/bond/COD fees despite specifying I did NOT want UPS to be used - they are insisting that international shipments are through UPS only. I live in the GTA, so this is some straight up BS.

So BE WARNED. I wasted a bunch of time dealing w/ their awful support chat - which informed me I should "contact my local tax office" to deal w/ the charge which is more BS. So I'm going to be calling in to try to get this sorted. Needless to say, a big PITA all around.

be careful, these drives rack up writes (or used to) aka write amplification bug. not sure it has been fixed but lots of people saying crucial isnt doing anything
