Looks like you can get it for 176 from iSanek (other seller with about 9000 reviews). Maybe worth the saving?

Same performance, warranty, company reputation, and Amazon.com scores... both are excellent, so just get whichever is cheaper, or maybe the one that you like the look of!

Edit: Crucial P5 Plus is recommended for PS5 storage, and SN770 is not, so that's the other tie breaker.

PS5: Crucial might be better with DRAM and faster sequential read
for Laptop, doesn't matter, but if you use slim book that values battery life, SN770.

Price wise, not much different as you can do monthly payment for 5 months in amazon for this particular P5 Plus.

I never finance on Amazon but I see 12 months for $17.22/mon.

I buy from them directly for work. They ship faster then amazon and never had an issue.

That's not the one from Amazon. Amazon monthly payment is interest free. My order is $35.92 monthly for 5 months

Good find, OP. Upvoted.
If maximum energy conservation is a factor then sometime like the 980 Pro is better, it uses around 0.3-1W on average at idle. In a desktop it probably matters less. My SN850x drives idle around 1W, same as the P5 Plus. But I've seen them use 5 or 6 watts. If you consider 1W a lot then avoid it, but know that lots of other NVME drives also use around the same at idle and it isn't always easy to find the information.

According to toms hardware the P5 Plus used 1.286 watts at idle and 980 Pro used 0.760. Around 0.5W. Max power was P5 Plus 6.47 and 980 Pro 6.15. Average 4.38 vs 3.74. MBps is 314MB vs 419MB. So the 980 Pro is more efficient if that matters to you. However the price of the 980 Pro 2TB is around $350 or double the cost of this P5 Plus. Is 0.5W really that much? At 15 cents per kwh 0.5W is less than $1 a year. 1W idle is like $1.30 a year if you leave it on 100% of the time. Not anything I'd worry about.
That's 30 minutes away, I'll be there in 10.

I wouldn't worry about the PS5 performance. I have a PS5 with a SN750 SE, which isn't as fast as the SN770. I also have another with a MP600 Pro, which is much faster. Side by side the load times in games on the SN750 SE and MP600 Pro is exactly the same, which is about the same as the internal. A fraction of a second difference at most. Sony really overshot on the speed requirements for PS5 storage, any Gen 4 drive I've tried in a PS5 worked just fine. Even the cheap Kingston NV2 1TB that was $65 works just fine.

What is odd is the SN750 SE and NV2 both get around 3200mbps speeds in PC benchmark and the PS5 shows them around 5800mbps. The MP600 Pro shows around 6900mpbs in my PC but also around 5800mbps in PS5. From my expereince of trying about 7 different nvme drives in PS5 they all work basically the same.

I agree, but the devil is in the details: SOME games might be built to need the minimum spec, and you won't know there's a problem until you do ;)

The reason for the different benchmark results is just because they measure different things in different ways, like: what size file transferred for how long while how much other stuff is happening... etc. Just gotta compare apples to apples.

I have no idea how test the PS5 does but whatever it is every drive I've tried has been in the 5600-5900. So if the PS5 says the SN750 SE is 5800 and their requirement is 5500 then I would think the drive should be fine. If not then PS5 needs to change how they measure the speed to be more accurate.

for laptop battery life, every watt matters though and that’s what they were concerned about.
