[Amazon.ca] Cycplus MTB Aluminum Bike Pedals with replaceable studs

Just found some great pedals from Amazon for dirt cheap (comparatively)...

$13.99 (shipped with Prime... no tax) gets you an aluminum flat pedals with steel axle and 3 sealed bearings... all at 300g for the set (mine weighed 293g). As well, they throw in an allen key and washers for the install. There are two colourways for $13.99... red/blue and silver/red.

At first inspection, they appear to be really solid and impressive for the money and a major upgrade over the standard resin pedals that come on a lot of bikes (or even upgraded pedals that have no studs). I bought these for a hybrid bike I'm tuning up for sale, but I wouldn't hesitate to try these on my MTB if I didn't already have RaceFace Chesters (which are like $75). The only comment suggesting any fault would be number of studs and the axle being a bit high compared to the studs... but you can back off the studs to raise them up a bit if you like. So maybe not for life critical double black DH runs. =P

Reviews are mostly 5/5.

Here are the specs:
【Aluminum Alloy Material】 The axle of bicycle pedals is made of chromoly steel. The footrest is precision CNC-Cut made of high-strength aluminum, the whole body of the pedal is pressed out of one piece and the surface treatment is anodizing chrome plating, which prolongs the life of the product considerably.
【3 Lubricated Sealed Bearings】 All bearings are sealed, so no dirt can penetrate. The rolling friction resistance of the 3 bearings is less, making the rotation of the ride smoother and improving the conversion efficiency.
【Bigger but Lighter】 Size: 3.85in*4.3in(97.7mm*109.5mm). With 12 Anti-skid pins per pedal side, the pedal is only 0.33 ponds(150g) in weight per piece. The interchangeable non-slip pins provide plenty of grip and stability, offering you a comfortable and safer experience.
【Universal Pedal Thread】 Standard 9/16 "spindle is suitable for mountain bike, road bike, trekking bike, tandem, track bike, city bike, cross bike, dirt bike, etc. The installation is super simple with the left and right markings. L is for left pedal, and R is for right Pedal.

P.S. Oh, and if you did just want RaceFace Chester pedals (which are pretty much the defacto value standard with proven quality)... go to PRFO.com and add those pedals and another $25 to use code "$25REVIEW" to save $25 (incl. free shipping).

"+ $6.33 Shipping. An Import Fees Deposit may apply at checkout."

Is this because I don't have Prime?

No import fees but the $6.33 shipping is applied even if my order is over $35 when I'd normally get free shipping.

Still very much worth it IMO... but to each their own.

Buy only once and get something like raceface chester or if you want to be supportive with a good canadian company get OneUP component composite pedal.

$14 for these vs $70 for those... That's a steep increase for the average leisure cycler.

Cool bike! What's your primary use for it? The front cassette seems super small so makes me think it's an XC bike but it's also got no shocks, but then has pretty beefy tires, but also a back rack.

yes its an XC bike. got it 6yrs ago all stock parts and last year i started upgrading parts - change drive train, fork, tires, pedals and added green accents for bling bling.

i use it mostly for light trails / gravel and when doing errands hence the back rack
