For those of you looking for a RTX 3060/Ryzen 5000 series laptop (since most are sold out)... This laptop will be released on February 2, 2021. I just purchased now, and I get February 8/9 as a delivery date!

· NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6 Graphics
· AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS Processor 3.1GHz (up to 4.5GHz)
· 15.6” 165Hz QHD (2560x1440) Display

· 0.8” thin, 4.2 lbs ultraportable form-factor | Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) & Bluetooth 5.1 (Dual band) 2x2 | USB Type-C Charging Capable

UPDATE:

Some additional info:
· ASUS has updated ROG Zephyrus G15 with some notable features, including a new 90 Wh battery with a 200 W AC charger. (Still, it can be used with its 100 W Type-C charging adapter, which is available separately.)
· ASUS advertises a 10-hour battery life.
· The screen for this particular model is 1440p 165 Hz with 100% DCIP-3 color reproduction and up to 400 nits of brightness.
· There are plenty of connections, including two USB 3.2 G2 Type-C, two USB 3.2 G1 Type-A, a DisplayPort 1.4, and HDMI 2.0b video output pairing, as well as a single 3.5 mm combo port and an RJ45 port with an unspecific networking controller.
· Built into the G15 is a trio of microphones with three modes (Cardioid, Omni, and Stereo), six integrated speakers...
· And a 20% bigger touchpad than the Zephyrus 2020 G15 model.

Buy now, think later!

The G14 was more expensive from BB, wasn't it?

Thanks op. Preordered, might cancel later, lol

If I recall, the G15 with 1080p 144hz screen, 1660ti and 500GB storage was $1550 @ Costco during Boxing Day so this seems like a steal for a higher resolution and faster refresh rate, and 500GB more storage, and a 30 series card.

Those specs are stacked. I wonder how the build quality is on this.

I was waiting for the Legion 5 Pro but this seems like serious value. I'll be missing a numpad and webcam though.

Also wasn't G15 rated poorly last year? I wonder if issues are addressed

How big is the jump from a 2060 to a 3060?

Thank you.
Except half of the ram is soldered. So you can't really add more later without taking a performance hit. They did it on the G14 because of space. I was hoping they wouldn't do it on the G15. But didn't turn out that way.

I have a desktop with a RTX 2070 Super. Would the 3060 perform around the same?

I'd be in to replace my desktop with a laptop!

I have 32gb ram in my desktop but a Ryzen 1700x

I'm very happy with my G14 even with the 1660ti, and I paid 1500. This seems fantastic

Who cares about upgrading the RAM? This thing already has 16GB and it's a 3060 in there, not some super high end GPU.

I believe a 3060 for a desktop is different than a 3060 for a laptop. Therefore your 2070s for a desktop would likely be better than the 3060 in a laptop. I don't know a lot, but from minimal research that seems to be the case.

It's probably closer to a desktop RTX 2060. My guess is nearly the same exact performance as the desktop RTX 2060 Super.

you'll have to wait for a specific review of this laptop and its performance. The mobile 30 series cards are seriously limited by thermals so cooling plays a huge factor. A 3060 in a laptop with superior cooling with seriously outperform another laptop with less cooling even with the same CPU. So best to wait to see what the reviews and benchmarks say.
