Interesting, this is definitely something I noticed when switching to LED. Even with dimmable LED bulbs, the colour temperature doesn't change, still intense white, just less bright.
But is 2700K → 2200K enough to get the really warm soft glow you expect to see when you dim an incandescent to, say, 25%?

Yeah it is - it very closely mimics how a regular incandescent bulb dims down. Depending on your dimmer, you may not get it all the way down to "barely glowing" (some dimmers will bottom out at 10% even if the bulb itself can be dimmed lower) but I put one of these into a fixture with a regular incandescent and it was very similar. Warm Glow is definitely where it's at if you like that old school analog lighting!

Why would anyone want 2200K? that is beyond yellow, basically orange. I find 2700K can be "dirty" looking, the room looks like that 90's beige plastic that's now aged and turned yellow
