[Amazon.ca] Durablow SH3001 Gas Fireplace WiFi Smart Home Remote Control $59.95 (33% off)

Note, the picture is incorrect and shows the non-smart version with battery power. However I just received it and it definitely is the SH3001 which is smart and does not take batteries. This has been $89.95 for a long time and is not even this cheap in US.

As with many smart devices, it does need to connect to 2.4GHz but once that's done, I was able to connect to Google Home with no issues. I just ordered a second one for my other fireplace.

EDIT: Just to clarify, there are two options for $59.95, but one of them has $11.86 postage and does not arrive until May. The one you want to order has free postage and arrives in a few days (may even have next day with Prime). The picture for this one includes a remote (which it doesn't have) as shown in the attached screenshot.

Thanks, I always wanted to make my fireplace smart but was told it was not possible. Hopefully, this is a DIY install.

Not even a screwdriver required. There are three leads, one (the USB charger) plugs into the nearest outlet. The other two push on to existing spade connectors on the controller that should already be under your fireplace.

Thanks, can you still use the dumb light switch?

Been using it for two years, GREAT product. The ability to program your fireplace to turn on and off at specific times or even location and exterior temperature... Amazing

Interesting. I used a zwave dry contact switch (Zooz Zen16 multirelay) to automate mine with Smartthings/Alexa. About the same price. I wired mine in series with the thermostat so that the wall thermostat for the fireplace is still connected and I use it to limit how hot the room can get. The Zooz 16 also has a neat feature that you can configure (locally) how long it will run before turning off automatically.

Reading the reviews multiple people commented that it doesn't actually add voice control unless you purchase a smart switch to go with it, whereas the other includes all you need (I believe).

I have a dumb question, my fireplace is controlled by what looks like a regular dumb light switch, so is it possible to change that to a smart switch? Or is there some sort of voltage/safety restrictions here?

Actually a great question. Answer is likely no - that switch probably doesn't have a neutral wire which would be required to power the smart switch. I had an electrician come and he couldn't do it without a neutral. The fireplace switches are usually just a simple on/off circuit breaker.

the fireplace dumb switch is a milli-switch, so not enough amp to power a smart device.

You can replace it with many inexpensive furnace type thermostats or with a little ingenuity (power source required) a WiFi thermostat. That's a lot better than a switch.

Thank you everyone! Seems like the SH3001 is a good option!

Thanks for bringing this up.

I was seriously considering going with this WIFI remote, really price! Though I do have a spare Zwave thermostat lying around which I think betters suits the purpose.

Thanks OP. I ordered one and received it yesterday. I also received SH3001 but without the handheld remote control that is shown in the picture of product listing. I have opened a ticket with the vendor to see if they can ship me the handheld remote.

Amazon has now corrected the link and this is still available at the sale price of $59.95. You will see the correct product listing here:

I had this device hooked up to a gas heater in my garage. Worked really well.
I've since upgraded to the sh3002 model which has a thermostat. (But most won't need that for a fireplace remote)

I don't believe the handheld remote would be of any use to you, the SH3001 does not have the button on it to sync the remote, you would need the SH3001-RH I believe.
