I wish you could disable the web browser or the youtube app on these.
I bought them for my kids as a fancy alarm clock for school but they just sneak and watch youtube all night. So I had to disable internet with my router at night but that kills the clock and anything helpful like the weather.

Have you tried parental controls? I'm pretty sure you can set daily limits and disable the web browser.

FYI the Show 8 is 1st gen, so it's from 2019. My 2nd gen Show 8 I already find not super responsive, so I can't imagine how this 1st gen is going to fare in a few more years.

You can't disable youtube from what I understand. Even if you delete the youtube icon or app you can just say "alexa, open youtube" and it will open silk browser to the youtube website. There are other ways to open it as well. The only parental control I know of is signing up for kids+ which is a paid parental control service under amazon. They it's free but it's not.

Ordered one, gave it a try. Indeed it shows it's age. The transitions are jerky, responses are quite slow compared to the 2nd gen echo show 5, and when no one is in the room, the screen turns off which some might appreciate, but in my case is a deal breaker. Ended up returning it.
