These are generally regarded as good entry level speakers on places like /r/budgetaudiophile, pretty great price to jump in. I just grabbed a set of 1700s

Thanks OP. Just got a turntable and need some speakers. I hoped Fluance would drop the AI60 again today but no luck. The Edifiers should do the trick and the price is right.

Color selections are really limited, i'd love to get one in white to match my set-up :(

Which one would be a good starter speaker?

I plan to use it primarily for my PC but also stream music and possibly add it to my TV/gaming setup.

R1700bt. But it doesn't have optical port. Does your tv have RCA audio out or 3.5mm jack? If no, you will need a $25 adapter.

Alternatively you can wait for a deal on 1850DB or 2000DB, those have an optical port

Good to know, 2000DB seems to be the sweet spot. Will wait it out.

The 1700s seem nice for a new turntable setup. Anyone see any other good deals on bookshelf/ tower speakers around right now?

Would the 1700s make good desktop speakers?

must bump edifier sales

especially for the 1280t's. May Not be the bt model but superior to any sub 100 soundbar

I got a Kanto SYD from this thread, it's basically a pair of YU4 combined. I'd prefer proper boookshelf, but this one is within budget, and the white colour matches my set-up .

I use the 1280DB as my secondary speakers. They work well with TVs. However if you increase the volume to a substantial level, you will find a bit of clipping of Bass. At a moderate level the sound is rich and warm and I do recommend them.
