I pulled the trigger on the R1700DB for a friend.

I bought the R2000DB last sale and have been very happy with it :)

I had no idea what an edifier was. Never heard of it.
The title should include that Edifier is a brand of sound equipment. That way I wouldn't have had to click on it to discover I don't need it.

Very nice deal. I am tempted to bite at the S2000s, but I find 2.0 setups are never quite right for dialogue in movies and TV shows.

Why do you think so ? I use the basic 2.1 setup with Edifiers 980’s with a 10inch active woofer for my TV and I don’t feel a need for more

I find the center channel is never quite as clear as a dedicated 3.1/5.1. It always sounds like the voice is blending into everything else instead of its own separate channel.

Plus, I cannot resist those sexy stands so I would be over $600 all in :).

I think you need a pacifier, not an edifier.

Damn! that's a great price!
I bought the black R1280DBs last week (which aren't on sale here so i don't feel as bad) but even at $160 the sound quality is amazing!

You are wrong.. its very clear i never have issue.. they have tweeters as well as 4inch subs ... there have been no issue for me.. you should first test it out if you didn’t like return

Yes you have two ways to connect them to TV using your TV AUX out to RCA in on speakers Speaker With Three Sound Waves

Speaker has inbuilt amp, it is an active speaker so you won’t need any... just buy a used powered active- Subwoofer use Y splitter on TV to connect both the speakers and the subwoofer and see the magic
