[Amazon.ca] ESR HaloLock Magnetic MagSafe Car Charger $28.79

Have been eying this MagSafe mount for my car for a little while and it's on sale at ATL according to CCC.
Didn't post until now as I was waiting for mine to arrive to make sure it's decent.
- works w my existing QC car adapter
- vent mount works well on my typical horizontal vent grill and sits about an inch away from the vent
- MagSafe is almost too strong so I think it will hold the phone throughout most potholes
- Ball socket fits an old generic magnetic (not compatible to magsafe) window mount I picked up form Costco a long time ago so I am getting another one to turn into a desktop charger :D
- make sure you understand that it needs 18W QC port (Android specification, plenty affordable around vs apple USB-c charger) as it relies on 9V USB output.
- as per comment even when paired w the required 18W charger it will only charge at 5W. Typical apple
- I also added some cheap MagSafe compatible metal rings to my android phone cases and works as well :)
- There is a newer model coming soon w faster charging and integrated cooling fan and why I believe they are discounting these?

If you don't have the right charger this one is $20 more and includes one

I took a chance on this one for $8.74 but have not tested yet

Nothing will charge your phone at 15W except official apple MagSafe charger or belkin MagSafe charger which is certified by Apple

All other MagSafe chargers advertise wrongly 15 and 18w but that works on non apple phones as for apple phones these are just Qi chargers and will charge them at 5W only

They use MagSafe name in marketing just as they support attaching the phone magnetically.

I actually don’t even want fast charging as long as it can maintain the charge while in use as I see fast charging as contributor to shortening battery life. At home I still only use 5W charging over night because of that.

I find this one actually does not block the airflow too much as it sits about an inch away from the vent.
Can your mount flip the MagSafe part to face the other way? I’m looking for something like this so I can mount my phone next to my monitor. Then again $60+ is a bit much especially for non charging but if it works I put a tracker on it at least

Multiple newer (2019 or later) cars support wireless Carplay, and if not, there are adapters for this as well (Google it).. personally, I haven't tested this as wired carplay works just fine for me

Ye… I’m using wired carplay and it makes this device useless :(

Oh! The ESR is definitely the better deal then. Buy, buy, buy!

Been using this for about a year now and the magnet is very strong. Holds my 13 pro max with a leather case on with no issues.

Is the magnet still strong if there's a phone case?

That's good to know, but IIRC, some people in the reviews are claiming the magnet isn't very strong. I'm sort of afraid that a sudden breaking motion or if I go over a speed bump, the phone will fall off.

Do I have to worry that it is sold by YBintech instead of ESR or Amazon?

if you have a magsafe case, yes. ESR also sells a "HaloLock ring" you can put on non-magsafe cases.
