A caveat: internally these drivers are recycled Toshiba/hp DVD-RW from as early as 2003, literally they are all new enclosures with old stocks.

Bought two and both turned out to be old stocks internally.... nothing wrong with it, but you have to keep in mind, literally no manufacturers are actively producing dvd-rw any more...

No conversion needed, DVD = Digital Versatile Disc :)

I assume you mean you want to convert mpeg2 video from the disc to a video file format like mp4 with a more modern codec. Don't forget that if it's a commercial disc that has the video encrypted with CSS you'll need a converter with built-in decryption.

I have a usb 2 Blu-ray drive from Asus that windows will not recognize... Do I have to get this thing, or is there a way to get a driver to make it work? I'll tape a usb key to the thing for all I care.

Nahh... 8" floppies were even more interesting.

Scary part is that they are still being used in some places.
Even the US Army was using them until about 3 years ago when they finally got rid of them.

Scary part, is that these were very popular. And not so long ago, I was even using them on another military flight simulator :) Guess the military tries to squeeze every penny out of their investments.

The only thing I use CD burners for, are for dumping a bunch of MP3 onto CD, for use in my wife's 2006 Civic :)
