They are completely different markets, switch is geared towards families mainly. Also the switch has sold an incredible amount, a very small percentage of switch owners would make that jump, too much money involved. Handheld machines for PC gamers could also be a very niche market.

The number of people that emulates is like a drop in the bucket.

It's funny how thru out the entire life time of Nintendo's consoles, there's constantly people who keeps saying it's going to fail or be irrelevant, while it soars past 100 million sales and become the 3rd best selling console ever. They should just face reality that the console has succeeded, despite it being something they don't like or want. It's ok to not like something that is popular, but you don't have to constantly put down on it either.

Ok so it sounds like this is definitely not a buy for anyone who's played a fifa game from the past few years since nothing's been updated.

How does it stand up as a switch game in spite of that if we've never played one? We only have a switch - is it worth $25? Fun to play for kids?

If you don’t have previous fifa versions on the switch, $25 is worth it. Get it.

If you remove that, there really is no benefit playing on the switch vs any other platform. Add to that switch version generally is downgraded (frame capped)/running on an older engine because of hardware limitations.

Basically switch is really for first party games, RPGs, and other games you can play offline.
You can tether your phone really easily and playing without downloading updates uses very little data. I would say I use mine mostly docked as well, but being able to move around with it is a huge plus.

Yep, very niche. When you're a tech-person it's very easy to forget how non-tech most people are.

It's not just families either, there's a reason Mario Kart has sold so much. If you have a group of adults over, no one is going to want to play COD.
