I have both and though I like the Firestick in most things it cannot control the volume for BT headsets. This isn't a problem with full headsets that have volume control, but with earbuds with no volume control it's a deal breaker. The CC can control BT volume. Stupidly, the CC couldn't recognize my dumb Haier TV with no CEC...I had to make it think that it was a HiSense TV in order for it to control the power.

In total I have four firesticks and two CC. Way too many...

If I need this for 2 TVs, would it make more sense for them to both be Fire sticks or does it not really matter besides for aesthetics? I have one Chromecast w/ Google TV right now but these Fire sticks keep going on sale!
the cgtv is horrid for local playback with its fixed refresh rate. If you leave it fixed at 60hz a 23.976 movie has display flickering. So basically the fix is set gui to 24hz so it only stutters instead once in awhile but the menu looks bad at the lower Hz. For streaming its fine. The thing is it happens on the cgtv and the tivo 4k streamer its the android os that locks the refresh rate but otherwise the soc could. Not till android 12 app's will have permission to change the refresh rate.

The firesticks don't have this issue. The have autorefresh rate in all apps except the typical netflix like the rest except appletv which doesn't.

Do any of these Firestick support Infrared remote support? The one I have doesn't work with my old harmony because it the Firestick is RF only, and I don't want/need a new remote.

No, they do not have a built-in infrared (IR) receiver

You will need to purchase one to use the Harmony remote

The fire Cube or FireTV boxes should handle or have better processors I suppose than the stick? I ask because I'm using a 2018 version of FireTV and it is starting to slow downa bit when browsing, may just need a full reset to factory I suppose but was curious if I'll see smooth fast browsing with a 4K Stick?

The 2018 4K Fire stick has laggy scrolling. It's not terrible but annoying enough

You can tell 8K hasn't penetrated quite yet because:

1. Panels remains scarce and expensive.
2. Streaming services aren't really emphasizing it.
3. Beautifying 4K seems more of a priority.
4. Improving 4K streaming and box performance is more of a priority.

When we get to Goof Troop sized TVs, in excess of 80", we see deeper penetration with 8K televisions... but for now, the market seems to be questioning the utility.

These Amazon devices tell a little story unto themselves.

I put this down to heat dissipation differences and what they can pass off in their respective form factors.

Thanks. Too bad it will cost more to add IR capability than it did to buy the FireTV in the first place.
