Support a Canadian Business and buy French's products!

F heinz!
heinz closes century old Canadian plant, 740 people out of work.
H.J. Heinz Co. will close its Leamington, Ont., processing plant in June 2014, costing 740 people their jobs, the company announced Thursday.

It broke the news to its employees at a meeting in the cafeteria.

Leamington Mayor John Paterson called the news "a great disappointment." The plant, which is more than 100 years old, is Leamington's largest employer.
And I know that they are trying to move back into Canada, makes no difference to me!

Not since they announced to stop making them in Canada. They have came back since, but had already lost a huge market share to French's

Old ketchup has a browner color - I wouldnt buy too much of this.

I read that Heinz was looking into producing ketchup locally in ontario again.

Love that French’s is Canadian but their bottle design is garbage. Always squirts our way too much. Hard to control. Makes a mess. Stopped buying this brand because of that , which is unfortunate.

Well the Heinz hate I was going to add has already been stated, I'll just add that I switched over to French's when Heinz pulled out of Canada, after having only Heinz for the first 20+ years of my life.

I've tried Heinz since and it simply doesn't compare to French's. It's too sweet or unnatural. I love ketchup and will always buy French's (as long as they don't make the same mistake). Their no sugar added ketchup is actually good if you're trying to watch sugar/calories too

I have 1.5 bottles left from last year's crazy deal (1.5L for 97c?), still not expired, bought 2 more because it'll get used

Basically Heinz pulled its ketchup production in Canada; Canadian farmers had tons of tomatoes with no buyers; French's then came to buy them all

Been buying French's ketchup since.
French’s makes a superior product anyways. Less sweet and more tomatoey I find.

French is very similar or higher in sugar content, but has the nice spices so that you dont notice

They both have the same amount of sugar, French's IS NOT higher. You are right though, they each have their proprietary recipes.

Next time while you're at it, check coke vs pepsi for sugar content. Im guessing for ketchup the sugar content changes depending on the shipment. It is very similar in sugar content that I wont go crazy looking at the labels

Let's see.
Heinz shut down their factory in Ontario and 740 jobs were lost moving ketchup production to the US.
Now they're coming back to Canada and will add 30 jobs to a plant in Quebec to produce ketchup.
So that's 740 jobs lost and 30 gained ..........I think we're still short 710 jobs. What am I missing here?

Heinz adding 30 jobs
