Melanoma because it provides no protection? or some active ingredient that goes bad?

Some cursory research says it's better than not, I still have an unopened bottle bought before COVID and never used it since. Stored in cool/dark area in a drawer- figure as long as it's not changed colours or anything it might just be less potent.

Mind sourcing me that old sunscreen causes cancer? I've seen sunscreen use associated with cancer increases, but that data set is typically terrible due to heterogenous sample groups.
