[Amazon.ca] GIGABYTE AORUS NVMe Gen4 M.2 2TB - $359.11

$359 for a quality nvme seems like a great deal to me. Might be a price error as they have another listing for another 2TB: https://www.amazon.ca/GIGABYTE-PCI-Expr ... ics&sr=1-4

That's the 1TB ASIN, you'll definitively either have it cancelled or shipped the 1TB

If the 3800x/3900x fiasco taught me anything, its that Amazon will give a nice discount just to keep the 1TB drive. If I actually needed the extra speed, I might be willing to play the Amazon rep lottery to try to get 30-40% off.

I’ll roll the dice to see if we can get a discount. 1tb would be fine with 40% off.

But great price

Shows free shipping with prime... and if they don’t send the right 2tb one as is on my invoice , or price adjust then free return ... not sure what the risk is other that time wasted perhaps?

Willing to try this out as well, but can someone tell me why I might want this when I have a 250GB MX Corsair something or the other?

Other than the additional size to store games.

Do you have an X570 motherboard? If not it’s a waste for you as you lack PCIE 4.0.

Thanks for that info! I have an X99-A, so I guess I wouldn't see the benefits.

What are the benefits though, in the event one had a compatible setup?

General day to day use you probably wouldn’t see one. PCIE4 drives are good for servers or people moving giant files around often as they read/write at around 5000mb/s compared to the 3500mb/s that top end PCIE3 drives do.

For most day to day users even a SATA SSD is good enough. NVME is just nice because you save space and you probably didn’t need those PCIE lanes anyways.

I have an X570 board and I wouldn’t even bother with one myself. I can’t even tell the difference between my slow Crucial P1 and a faster Samsung 970 EVO.

1TB model is on sale for C$289 at Canada Computers. Fascinating drive.

Edit: But those with bulging pockets should go for this instead:

Edit2: Wonder what would happen if you put two of those Gigabyte 4xNVMe adapters in raid0. It would be raid of a raid. I imagine it's technically possible. Just a crazy thought for when I win the lotto :)

Why the down votes? Thought this is a good deal. This is a high performing nvme drive.

If 2TB drive is sold at that price it would be a steal of the deal. Unfortunately, it's not 2TB drive. It's just in the title. If you look at SKU it's 1TB, and that's just OK price.
That's why all the downvotes.

Got a 1tb delivered. Called into amazon, they acknowlefge the error in the site, but could not commit to a 2tb model .. so they refunded 45%, to keep the 1tb, so not bad.

Will keep since my boot drive was getting a little tight on space.

Yep, would've done the same, but I don't need to pay that much for a Gen4 SSD for my future laptop. Would rather put in 32GB of RAM, possibly even 64GB because... because.
