[Amazon.ca] Gigabyte RTX 2070 8GB OC $566.99

It's the OC edition, cheapest on the market right now if you're interested.. ME is out of stock, so you can't price beat there, not sure which other retailers have price beat (Mike's?).

It's eligible for Prime.

Camelx3 shows that this is the lowest it's been.

EDIT:

CanadaComputers has the white version for $32 more ($599), comes with the 2 game bundle of Wolfenstein: Youngblood + Control. Doesn't show it on the Amazon listing but you will get both games also in a separate email a week or so after the purchase.

From what I'm saying they're trying to push out old stock. It's not a supermodel. I would not buy anything that isn't super. 2070 super is the same MSRP as the base 2070. The base 2070 now being defunct and no longer made. I paid the extra for something not on sale to get the extra frames. Just my opinion tho

Saw it, I want to wait for the custom cooled 5700s.
Same performance as a 2070 and ray tracing does not do anything for me.
Next best thing would be a sub $400 2060.

Yah I saw this one a couple days ago. If it was under 500 I would have jumped.

Not bad, but not hot by any means. If going with Nvidia I'd sooner look for a 2060 Super on sale, which is almost a 2070 but cheaper.

Personally I'm waiting to see what the AIB 5700/5700XT cards look like. If they can keep the temps and power down I think those will be the better cards. The 5700XT is being the 2080 in some games.

Hold and buy those instead.
I've read that drivers are horrid.

An OC'ed 5700XT, which is apparently quite feasible with their headroom, properly rivals a 2080.

I've been hearing AMD has been closing the gap on Nvidia GPU's for a couple of years now, is that the case or is that just from AMD bias people? Lol. I know the CPU market is pretty damn competitive now..

I wanna try a full AMD build lol.

Built Intel/Nvidia, Intel/AMD, Ryzen/Nvidia, soon to be Ryzen/AMD lol.

The 2080 has RTX and AI AA (who cares on both counts?), but in a great many games, a properly OC'ed 5700XT will rival a 2080. The XT AA is pretty efficient as it is.

If you're into VR, go with the 2080, otherwise you'll like the 5700XT non-blowers.

I've been reading there are a lot of overheating and artifacting problems with 2070OC. Lots of rma's.

I have a feeling ray tracing will matter once the consoles drop. It may not mean anything now, but you would have to be betting against it when they are geared to support it. This gen Navi feels like a half step right now.

Its not bad, but its not forward thinking. They should have been cheaper to justify the skipped feature.

Doubtful. Most realistic projections put viable widespread RTX by 2022. The new consoles are dropping for Christmas 2020 and they'll definitely be lesser than 2080TIs in terms of performance... The TI can barely push 1080p60 Ultra with RTX.

I'm not ruling out fake or gimped RTX by 2020 for consoles.

That's my logic as well since even the best card struggles with ray tracing

currently I have a R9 280, what's the best card for 4k video editing? not much into gaming, the only game I play is civilization.

Something with lots of high bandwidth VRAM. Vega 64 or Radeon VII would be your best bet long term. Most of these newer GPUs have narrow bus widths with faster VRAM clocks.

Perhaps, but RTX still has dedicated cores for ray tracing. It is why the 10 series cards are so gimped when doing ray tracing at all.

Current Navi has nothing for it so it will likely be worse than the consoles for ray tracing.

Can you show me proof of this? I've only seen it compared to a 2060 super. Most of the time I saw a 2070 beating it in games.

Even with max OC with a liquid cooler (using loads of power) it had 1fps higher than a 2070 super on average over all their games. https://www.techspot.com/review/1883-ov ... n-rx-5700/
