[Amazon.ca] Greenworks PRO 20-Inch 80V Cordless Snow Thrower, 2.0 AH Battery Included

my question is if it is worth paying $100 to update 60v to 80v. My driveway is not big ... I would say 1.5 car driveway

I wouldn't suggest this 80V bundle. A 2.0 Ah battery is pretty small, and you might not be able to clear a driveway depending on how heavy the snowfall is.

For what it's worth, I have a normal size driveway that can barely fit 4 cars in tandem + the boulevard. This past snow storm (I'm in Toronto) when I used the machine in the evening, I got to most of it before it died on me. In most cases, I am able to do my whole driveway + a most of my neighbours before I need to recharge. Recharge time is surprisingly quick, it feels like around 30 mins from empty.

The augers are plastic so it might not last 5+ years, but for the past year of use, I recommend it. It's lightweight and gets the job done. I will say, if you're expecting it to take out the snow at the front of your driveway where the plows push the snow, this isn't the machine for you. But I don't know if there are any machines that can throw that snow.

Stay away from this model. The 20" 80V and 60V are one of the worst reviewed in the Greenworks line.

You are much better off spending the little bit extra and getting the 22" 80V when it comes on sale, or if you can find it at Costco. Or, going to something equivalent from Ego.

There is an EGO model on sale now, and I actually went to the RENO DEPOT this morning. It is too big and too heavy. Mine is just a townhouse, I don't need a very powerful machine...

Love my 80 v snow thrower It pushed almost 1.5 ft of snow plus the end of my driveway was so high! My gas blower is sitting to the side and collecting dust now lol

I have the 60V combo ( 20” snow blower + 4aH battery + leaf blower) - bought for $348 last year.

Used it the first time a couple days ago, got about 20cm of snow or so. Best money spent ever. Did a 2 car driveway + boulevard + three Neighbour”s side walk + an elderly’s driveway - used two bars of battery.

Easy to maneuver, quiet and plowed the snow effortlessly.

Never knew I needed a snowblower…

I have an 80v snowblower with 3 2AH batteries (also have a mower). It is not great with heavy, wet snow or the pile at the end of the driveway, and it does clog and shut off sometimes until you manually spin the blades to clear them off. A single battery is often all I need to do our suburban two car driveway and sidewalk. The recharge time is about 30 minutes with the fast charger. If I need more than one battery, I just cycle through them. It can throw fairly far and the lights are pretty bright.

I love not needing gas and it is a lot quieter than a gas snowblower. It is also lighter and pretty manoeuvrable. I definitely prefer it to shovelling and although it isn’t perfect, for the price I paid, I am very happy with it.

+1, the secret sauce in Toro single stage gas blowers was the rubber “power curve” auger which was patented by Toro. To get around the Toro patent, competitors came up with other designs, but most don’t work as well as Toro’s. The Toro patent has since expired, so now competitors can copy it.

The 22” machine with the Toro style rubber auger is a big step up in performance over the plastic auger in the smaller machines

didn't know there was patent about power curve auger, can you please take a look at this one, see if the auger is Toro style? TIA! https://greenworkstools.ca/collections/ ... -tool-only

I have a few greenworks 40V line tools, hope the 40V 20" Brushless Snow Thrower is good for a small driveway

I tried. 2ah battery is only good for a very small driveway. 2 car single garage driveway with wet heavy snow. 60v is pretty weak too. Again it’s only for single garage 2 car driveway. You may better off buy a corded blower for such a small driveway. Buy carefully as clearance is NOT refundable. Wish it helps.
