It passes HDR just fine here (from a firestick 4K).
Edit: just looked up the reviews and someone posted a screenshot of it passing HDR between a TV and a PS4.

Some sellers will still go on and spice up their products regardless, still, there are enough "authentic reviews" (esp those with screenshots of the switch in action) to help make a decision (also I wouldn't really spend that much time researching a $20 item, it's FBA, amazon will take it back if it fails to perform, just a quick scan of the recent negative reviews and you should be good to go).

Most of these switches have "auto-power-sensing", it will correctly switch to whatever input that was most recently powered up.
you might as well get up unplug an HDMI on the TV and plug the one you want?
That would dramatically increase wear and tear on your ports.
Maybe find a way to leave it hooked somehow?
There are pricier options that come with a remote.
You'd end up not losing any frames/quality/HDR/features IMO...
It's just a matter of doing the homework and getting a switch that matches the display (there should be no loss in features or quality unless it's a defective unit).
