[Amazon.ca] Hisense 4k TV A68G 85'' 1798$

Hi guys,

if anyone is looking for a good budget 85'', the new Hisense model is on sale for 1798$ (400$ off) at Amazon, but also Visions, Brick, and pretty much any place that sells the TV. The deal ends today. Maybe you can even get a sales rep to lower the price at Visions.

Unfortunately Costco doesn't have this model yet, but last year's model was selling for 1698$ in January of this year, so I don't think it's a bad deal as the normal price for this model is 2200$.

Link for Visions

Link for Brick

Link for Best Buy

And here's the link of the thread for last year's model deal link, with pictures and reviews from people who got it:

If it's anything like last year's model then it will be a great purchase. I would still wait for Costco however.

$1900 tax in including Costco 5 year warranty was a steal. Couldn't be happier with the TV.

You will always get downvotes from people who rather pay $500-$1000 extra for a much more inferior Samsung/Sony/LG. Face With Tears Of Joy

Honestly I wouldn't mind to downvotes if it was for a reason such as there is a better deal to be had and people would share it. But just downvoting and not even leaving a comment ? Ok.

Real question : what is the difference between a samsung and this one?
Please help me breaking this wall so i stop buying sony/samsung
( actually , for me , if a tv is not a samsung or sony . It is a no go )

Difference is mainly the logo. Each company will have some proprietary technology as well, but it may or may not make a difference.

With modern comparison sites like rtings.com you can look past the marketing to see how TVs actually perform on many metrics so that's why it is safer to not buy the tier 1 brands.

Hisense has the technology of the various firms they acquired including Sharp and Toshiba, so I don't think they are slouches either. Sharp TVs were considered pretty good back in the day.

I mean, it's not always a bad thing to have brand loyalty - just realize you are paying for their marketing budget to make you a fan to begin with. I've had no issues with my my Hisense TVs (or any TV to be honest), but conceivably there could be lower QA standards to hit lower price points. Another thought is that you should think of why you like Sony/Samsung so much - for example LG is actually much bigger than Sony in TVs and you don't like them (and arguably their OLED TVs are the best money can buy). End of the day marketing is just perception and may or may not be grounded in quality.

Edit: Expensive models of tier 1 brands are normally the best sets (with prices to match), because they can afford the most R&D, etc. But once you go down the product lines you can get better bang for the buck with higher level lines from smaller manufacturers.

IMHO, Hisense/TCL are like the Vizio from a few years ago. I also have a TCL 65", would not buy another Samsung/LG for a very long time

You mean Vizio ?

It's a shame they exited the market in Canada. They even launched an OLED panel last year.

Every major brand (Samsung, Sony, LG) makes excellent TVs but most of their models are crap by modern standards.

For example, every TV in Samsung's 2021 lineup below the Q9A is, at best, "okay". Which would be fine except they charge serious money for some of those sets.

Now, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this tv as I'm having a hard time finding much info on this exact model. But compare my three year old TCL against a new, equivalent priced Samsung or Sony, and you'll realise how much much you get ripped off for your loyalty.

$1800 for an 85 is decent.

Specs look identical to the H78G which was a good budget TV.

I'm still waiting for the 75" U78G - That one is the sweet spot for new gaming features vs price.

They reviewed a 55'' IPS panel if I'm not mistaken, that is why I didn't link it in my original post, don't think it'd be relevant to the experience you'd get from the 85'' if it's anything like the H78G from last year. Even if they were under the same series, comparing the 55'' / 58'' / 65'' / 75'' to the 85'' really was night and day IMO.

Do you have the A68G or the H78G ?

If you have the A68G, can you post some pictures if it's not too much trouble ? It'd be nice to see and hear from someone who actually owns it.

For the record, I bought one but I'm only moving into my new house in late August so I set up delivery around the 29th...

Keep lying to yourself....better for the value you maybe but a 2 second google search proves you are extremely biased. I know this is RFD but you shouldn't lie due to this tv being a good value vs quality

I said if it's anything like last years model then it will be a good purchse. A6g is not last years model.

Keep buying trash for 1k more LOL. Read the previous thread, you will see real reviews, real pictures from real users on this thread. Love my H78g and for $1900 all in with 5-year Costco warranty I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

Run along little one.

Anyone bought a Hisense from Amazon before? I'm looking at a different model but a little weary of buying from them. How do returns work for an item this large?

I never bought a TV (and returned it) from Amazon but I believe they set up an appointment with you for a date of your choosing when they deliver, and they would do the same in case of a return.
