[Amazon.ca] Hisense 55Q8G 55" 4K QLED TV - $598 (Same Price as 50")

https://www.amazon.ca/Hisense-55Q8G-And ... B083SC7ZSF

Apparently they decided why not just slap on the 50" price, a $150 discount on the $750 sticker.

Explanation on H8G vs Q8G

This is getting close to Wall TV / PC Monitor territory for me, and my resistance is weakening.

If this is a duplicate thread, apologies.

God bless.

P.S. 1 to 2 months shipping time is Amazon-speak for 2 to 3 weeks to your door (often sooner).

CALIBRATIONS: IMPORTANT
redflagdealsguy wrote: Hisense H8Q (Q8G) 55" 4K TV [2020] Calibration Settings

Calibrations make a big difference on this panel, as it's not optimally calibrated out of the box. Calibration is generally prudent, regardless.

Pretty good, same price as the Q7G from Costco and you get the WCG.

In all seriousness, it's a pricing strategy to clear inventory or consume market share from higher priced competitors. You see this often enough. Normally, they discount the lower models slightly, to prevent strange situations like two different sized models having the exact same price. They should've done so here to avoid perplexed consumers questioning the discount, as is happening with you (and others).

I've just spoken to an Amazon CSR, they believe this unit is approaching a 'stock out' situation (i.e. out of stock soon).

Their rationale is that this has progressed from an 'in stock' state (Normal Prime Shipping), to a '1 to 2 months to ship' state, after which it'll be 'temporarily out of stock' with an unknown restock date and a potentially reset price.

The CSRs don't see the algos, so they don't know the price after stock out, but this is one person's observation.

Potentially 3 units remaining.

Potentially not, the seller has limited sales to 3 units per customer.

Price match at Visions for an extra 10% off and you’ve got a great deal.

Good idea.

https://www.visions.ca/product-detail/5 ... &sku=55Q8G

You save 15% of the difference, which is $15 here.

That's not nothing, I'm just thinking this Amazon price might disappear soon, and with it... the opportunity to price match. I've placed an order which I may or may not cancel later. RFDGuy needs a new oversized monitor.

Pulled the trigger on Q8G from Amazon for $599..decided on this as opposed to Q7G from Costco for same price..

Q8G at visions is $100 more at 699 so thinking the price is good,

tough call as can't beat the return policy at Costco...also struggled with the TCL 613 at Costco for $599

Think the only difference is from Q7G is the Wide Color Gamut- don't believe there is anything else

Think this has good bang for the buck..

Can you use this purely as a dumb TV and not connect it to any network, nor Google services, nor call home / firmware updates...etc?

It's better as a Dumb TV in my opinion. I prefer Nvidia Shield Android TV to these canned solutions.

RTings recommends this exact size, make, and model panel as a Best Budget Oversized TV Monitor Panel.
