TCL might be a little better but they are so similar I'd go with whichever you was better priced or from a better retailer (warranty). Both are great sets.

It's OOS at Costco. I already ordered the X90J from Costco, wondering if it is worth saving the $200 by getting the hisense.

I'm also conflicted about playing the panel lottery and longevity of the hisense

I'd buy the Hisense over the X90J if you are into gaming. If you don't game and can afford the extra $200 then I'd stick with the X90J. Sony is supposed to bring VRR and some other things to the TV with firmware but who knows when it'll be. They just did the X900H from last year recently and it isn't perfect. Overall they are both pretty similar.

How much did you pay for the 646? If it was more than $1299 I'd switch personally.

I game, but mostly on my PC. For that I already have a 144hz monitor so the TV would be mostly for sports/TV/Movies. I'll probably stick with the Sony for peace of mind.

Stupid 10 year old Sharp just won't die. Picture still awesome for 1080p but looking forward to upgrading when a few dead pixels appear.
If it’s not at least 50% off is it really a deal?

Unless you’re gaming with a PS5. X90J and other 2021 Sony TVs are getting special updated features for the PS5

I bought one of these October 30th at this price from Costco and it's scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. Kind of torn though as I also bought the 55 inch u88g from Costco at $1097.99. Not sure how much better the u88g is over the u78g and since its a bedroom TV, might stick with the smaller screen.

$200 difference in my case to go from 55U88G to 65U78G....decisions decisions Thinking Face

I have the same problem. got a Samsung LCD tv for about $1k from 2001 audio video in January 2010 that just won't quit.

you wont ever find the u88g at that price again while $1300 is the every day price for the 65U78

Yeah, true. That being said the best pricing I had seen on the 65U78G before early November was $1498 so at $1298 its priced quite well for a 65.

From what I've seen the blooming control might be a bit better on the U78 than the U88 as well. Might have to test both side by side for a bit to make the decision.

I've asked several times, but have they fixed the ghosting issue? I remember seeing a ridiculous fix that included unplugging the hdmi and using a different port.

I would rather have the tcl 646 than the hisense u78g but stock is stupidly hard to find.
