[Amazon Canada] HP Officejet 6962 Inkjet Multifunction Colour Printer $49.99

Looks to be lowest price ever on CCC. I'm no printer expert but recently had to replace mine so I bought this on Amazon thinking it's a good deal this week (forgot to make a post about it until now!). I just finished setting it up and it has a colour touchscreen to boot. All this for $50. Yes it uses Ink not Toner so it's more expensive to print, but toner exhaust is as bad as cigarette smoke so I'm happy I got rid of the old one. You can also get no-name ink from 123ink.ca for cheaper.

Staples has it for the same price but it was just recently at $169.99 at Amazon and currently $152.86 at Mike's Computer Shop.

Edit - just adding this does include full auto duplex printing.

Looks like a warm deal; I don't think it's flaming or extremely hot, but worthwhile for anyone considering an inkjet printer for medium-volume printing.

OP, the Amazon page indicates that this printer is also Instant Ink ready.
If you don't print much (<15 pages a month), you could sign up for the Instant Ink program and HP will ship you new ink cartridges when you're about to run out for free.

But if you print more than 15 pages a month, you'd have to step up into a paid plan... Really depends on how often you print, but this may be a good option for someone who doesn't print much.
Also, either of the printers in the second post would work well too (depending on whether you need color printing or not). The printer in the OP and the Lexmark do auto duplexing, but the DeskJet 2655 in the second post doesn't.... Not sure if the Lexmark deal is still live though, and I don't think Staples will pricematch ME on the printer because they lok to be a different varient of the same printer (diff colours; Staples used to be a stickler on the models matching 100%).

Bought it at the same price 3 weeks ago from amazon. Great printer for use with the HP free ink service! The price goes up and down to this level every month or so.

There are so many other alternative inkjet MFP colour printers on sale at the moment around the same price range. I'm sure they will be cheaper on BF.

I think you recommend great alternatives, but for different needs.

The Lexmark is great for customers looking for monochrome laser, but won't suit anyone looking for colour
The HP DeskJet is great for customers looking for a no-frills, once-in-a-while printer, but is very basic (and slow)
All the Canon printers suggested fit the same bill as the DeskJet that you had suggested -- great value options, but slow in comparison to the OfficeJet in the OP.

Out of all, I would go for the Lexmark, or the HP in the OP (probably with the free Instant Ink), depending on whether I wanted colour printing or not.
If I wanted the cheapest possible option, I'd buy the 2655 from ME, but it's slow, and I don't think I want to deal with the manual duplex.

Thank you for showing some options though; upvoted.

Not sure if people know these printers really well on RFD.. this is the best value printer right now. For $50 you get an aio, duplex, with pigment based color inks.

The cost per page is similar to laser at a much lower upfront cost, and this is not considering instant ink.

With instant ink it gets even better. a customer who gets a printer like this would usually print about 50-100 pages a month or less, and would cost $6/month or less, so down to $0 if it is less then 15 pages a month, and that is at full page, full quality coverage.

Of course that Lexmark at $28 is a great price, but it's only a single function, lack of color, and most of all, availability of supplies, is a big concern for that model.

Wouldn't get any of the other printers at 29 or 39 as those will certainly cost much more, be less reliable, have less features, have lower print and build quality.

Wow, so expensive for a inkjet. Can this one be used for HP instant ink? How much do cartridges go for? I guess im looking for the actual cost per page (average cost, as it depends on what you print) as i will be needing to print mostly text and some diagrams, and then pics once in a bluemoon...

Is toner exhaust really that bad? Got a link? I heard about this years ago from someone too

I got this printer for $45 at Staples a few weeks back and have been on the free Instant Ink plan since. No complaints yet, good picture quality, has duplex printing and an ADF.

I bought this one two weeks ago.
I only needed the scanner with ADF.

Hp instant ink at 0$ for 15 sheets a month wasn’t available online.
I call and said it’s not written on their website.
They setup me up for 0$ instant ink.

So now I can scan a lot (I’m going paperless) and I can print 15 full letter photo every month for free!
Found great Letter size photo paper at Dololorama by the way.

I bought this printer from Staples but I decided to return it and get the slightly cheaper, dye based ink HP officejet 3830. The print head in the 6962 is not replaceable, but the print head for the 3830 is on the ink cartridge, so I'll get a new print head every time HP sends new ink.

You just doubled or tripled your cost per page, and the print head on the 69xx will last you thousands of prints before needing to be replaced. With the pigment based ink you won't have the problem of a clogged print head either.

HP instant ink is free and counts per page on paid plans, so It's pointless for me to buy a pigment ink printer with non-replaceable printhead. I'll never print important photos at home if I want to keep them forever, so dye based ink cartridges works for me.
