This stuff is pretty good. Quiet too. Just don't stream warm mist. Costco had Homedic for $59.99 ended yesterday. Stream warm mist, but a bit noisy.

You need to use distilled water or can you do filtered water?

warning about humidifiers. research suggests you're only safe if you clean them every day. people with a weakened immune system or weakened respiratory system are especially at risk to develop complications from their common cold or asthma.

Depends on your water. If it's got alot of minerals you will get the lovely white dust on everything.

Have this for a while now. I get a noisy fan during startup then it quiets down. Used mineral oil to lube the fan and the noise goes away for a few weeks but comes back. Suspect the hard tap water has something to do with it, or maybe I just need to replace the fan somehow.

Let me know if you find a fix.

Bought this back in October. Works great so far. Blue light is kind of cool at night. I use well water with a Water softener system. I usually clean it every couple of weeks. No complaints yet on this thing.

Any issue with white dust? I'm using an old Boneco and I'm looking to replace with a humidifier that does not require a filter. I was considering buying the TaoTronics but I also came across these 2 which seems good.

My main concern was the need for distilled water so I want to get one that has no filter, works with tap water in Toronto and does not produce white dust.
