I am using a $4 lid from dollarama works well on my 8Qt. The rim is plastic and fits pots of different sizes.

In my case: 1 InstantPot with 2 6Q insert pots... While one's cooking, other sits under the lid... Or, if I put one or both in the fridge... you get the idea...

No, it needs to be closed for "slow cooking"... arguably, the only thing Instant pot can't do right... Kept my slow cooker.
