I would never bother with Mac for either laptop or desktop, just too overpriced for the performance not to mention the poor, or should I say close to zero, upgradability.
However for tablets apps ... nothing currently come close to iPad hardware / software iOS ecosystem. So I am also a happy iPad Pro user. Last iOS version is finally *somewhat* customizable.
Im not sure how you can say that about macs, however you end up paying for things you might not want/need. A truck isnt overpriced because I only need a car. For a comparable windows laptop to a macbook check the xps lineup, they are also quite expensive.

Here are some geekbench links for you as well.

https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/se ... ipad13%2C9

https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/se ... &q=core+i9

I admit it cant beat the desktop Intel Core i9-12900K that just came out, but give me a break. I think its fair to at least compare it to laptops for the most part. I also think its fair to say the iPad pro isnt a product for the masses, just get the $400 tablet (or something else from another brand) if you cant find a use for m1 power.
Why does someone like you even post on this thread?? I'm saying ur claims are shit cause someone who's gonna need an i9 is not someone who could even use an M1. I'm not saying one is better than the other, I'm saying get what suits your use case. Also I could've easily searched it up but my profs ain't gonna go looking up claims I make when I submit a doc are they? Gotta cite if you wanna proove ur point

That's not what you said at all, you are saying I'm full of crap and personally insulting me. When you do that there is responsibility to know what you are talking about. Im also not writing a research paper where I had to conduct experiments or piece together a bunch of data, its just simple facts.

Tf bud?! I said ur claims are shit not you, also an i9 being faster than an M1 is not a simple fact. Not many people would know that hence its always a good idea to atleast refer to a link or something.

M1s are kind of wasted in a tablet because ipados is so crippled and still almost the same as it was 10 years ago. Might as well get a base macbook air instead which is pretty amazing.

I bought a base MacBook Air M1, refurbished. It was a great purchase, and I feel that this serves all my purposes for productivity. It's my first MacOS based device, and for portability, I would not go back to a x86 laptop. This is based on battery life and reasonable performance.

With my PC, it's a different story. But I feel that most people would be happy with any tablet as they use it mainly for media consumption anyways.

Let's not forget apple charges ~$300-400 to upgrade your macbook SSD harddrive by 128GB. That is just straight up disrespectful. But to each their own.

Someone already posted a link proving the S7's CPU is comparable to a $400 ipad, not the M1 iPad, are you blind, illiterate, or both?

I have the 256 gb version of this.
Bought it to draw and sculpt on the go.

Complications to be aware of is there is little control over how it handles files. There is a file manager but if you randomly save a file in an app, that doesn’t mean you can access it via the file manager and have to export it through the app or share it to the right place or online etc…

12.9 is huge and heavy to use for common tablet stuff. The screen size and brightness is nice, but if you want to lay back and hold it up to watch something, or play a game, it is heavy.
I use a ztop-something hard case w/stand and screen protector built in.

There’s a learning curve if you’re not use to iPadOS. The split screen apps are weird. When casting, the volume use is inconsistent, sometimes being handled by the iPad, sometimes by the AppleTV or YouTube app.

I’m glad it has the M1 in it. I can feel the ceiling on procreate already because I draw at a huge resolution, so more speed and memory would be welcome.

Wish it had final cut.

The pencil 2 is great. I would like to use clip studio, but it has a subscription on iPad for some reason, so I just use procreate and Artstudio pro. Nomad for sculpting.

Honestly if this was a MacBook with a built in drawing/touchscreen, it would be preferable, but as it is, it’s fine for my use, but frustrating and the battery life is good, though the charging could be faster.

Bruh, an S7+ may have decent performance but please stop trying to say its better than an M1 ipad. Im not an apple fanboy or samsung fanboy since I use both products but an M1 ipad is definitely better than a S7+, that being said obviously the price differs

Omg why all the bickering lol.. a sub $1600 i9 device do not exist period. The ipad is also for a complete different audience and in this case they are a great tool for online school and running countless educational apps for years without slow down. Even my ipad pro 10.5 is still strong and fast and any android tablet would have faded by now lol

The battery life is definitely worse and very unpredictable. The chassis could be quite warm sometimes. I think Apple need a redesign iPad Pro to accommodate M1, the current version is inadequate.

Maybe we will see a thick & heavy iPad Pro this year, following the same route as latest Pro products.
You have one? Cause I have no battery problems not do
I have any heat issues. Never felt any heat. M1 is not much different than the previous gens…
