I know this outdoor smart plug has been "on sale" on and off every other week for the past month for $20. Regular retail is in the $25-$30 range. This time the sale price is $1 cheaper than usual at $18.99.
I think they're trying to clear out stock because the new one (EP40) has already been released. The new one is currently only available through 3rd party seller on Amazon.ca for $62.32. It's sold on Amazon.com for $19.99USD. But as far as I can tell, the specs are identical between the two models: 2 independent outlets, 15A, 300ft wifi range, IP64 rated, works with Alexa/Google/IFTTT.
According to a TP-Link support response to an inquiry about the difference between the two models: "Hi! The EP40 & KP400 have different physical housing designs, with the EP40 being a little bit smaller for more flexible deployment."
This will pair well with the Feit string lights that are currently $10 off at Costco East.
