Great marketing but the coffee isn't that good. My go to is 1850.

Second this - 1850 is great... relatively new so I feel a lot of people are missing out on great coffee!

It’s great coffee in a wide variety of roasts (my favourite is the kick ass dark) from a small Canadian company.

I don't know what's available at Shoppers but I really like KH Grizzly Claw. I've tried some of their other flavours and I wasn't too impressed.
I just bought 3 bags of Grizzly Claw but I'm going to also give 1850 a try (if I can find it at Safeway/Costco).

How does the quality and flavour of 1850 compare to Kicking Horse? I like the boldness of Grizzly Claw so just curious.

I don't know, Folgers has been around for a long time... like since 1850!

I don't know. I've never tried 1850 but I'm going to try it if I find it.

Not sure how's the quality of kicking horse right now, but I gave up on them three sales ago, due to quality issues...it doesn't taste as good anymore, and I used to buy their dark, bold blends only...some bags may be better than others even with the same best before dates.

Note that it's $9.99 lb at Loblaws here in Ontario this week. Also I regularly get the PC points 1800 for $9 spent offer.
I've tried a few of their beans/roasts and find they can be quite different so wouldn't generalize but I can understand that people used to the $18 or $19 / 340g (not even a lb! wtf?) local roasts would be disappointed. I'd go broke with the amount of coffee we go through.
Oh, of course totally subjective, but I find their Half Ass with reduced caffeine is fine and doesn't taste inferior like some and I certainly should be watching the caffeine.

I would only buy this if I was switching it up. It is not bad coffee by any means. I just do not find it worth the price. I stick to my McDonald's grinds and Folgers (for cowboy coffee).

Was trying a bunch of whole beans at the grocery store including kicking horse, starbucks, nabob, 1850. I grind whole beans and use a french press. The starbucks was good but expensive. Kicking horse is good but slightly mellow, a bunch of their roasts were all too mellow. Nabob was strong and bitter. 1850 was like a blast of rich, flavourfull, fruity, nutty tasting coffee in my mouth and I’ve stuck to it. Wish they had a decaf whole bean. I drink a lot of coffee.

Is 1850 by Folgers? Did a quick Google and all I see is 1850 by Folgers Coffee Co.

Does someone have a good recommendation for coffee that is also fair trade? This is a selling point for me, so the 1850 is not comparable.

Where did you see $7.99 for the whole bean? That's really super hot price!
Usually ground was $7.99 , but for the whole bean, $9.99 was lowest so far. Cheers!
