[Amazon.ca] LABISTS Raspberry Pi 4 starter kit - 4GB Ram, 64 GB MicroSD Card - ($169.99 - $48.45 = $121.54) PRIME - NO TAX

There is the Pi 400 kit also available from BuyaPi with a nice comparison from @Hugh and @canuckkat
buyapi-ca-raspberry-pi-400-135-2459482/2/#p34376424

There is also a LABISTS Pi 4 kit with a 32GB card for $135 with a $7 coupon which has been sitting in my "maybe later" pile for a while now, so this one seems like a no brainer.

This at $121.54 and I was not charged any tax on my purchase.

Bought it last time it was on sale for $109 (no tax) just wanted to say that the case is garbage if you don’t get the camera, since it leaves a large hole on the top. Also, the power supply is unreliable, after a few months, I ended up with a under power situation with the lightning bolt icon - ended up buying another power adapter.

I dont really find the case a problem. With the built-in fan, the temperature stays around 47 degrees and max out at 53.
I do have a problem getting unpowered external SSD corrupted consistently. Powered external hard drives are fine. I guess I should try a different power supply too.

Discount code: LABISTS35

Ordered it before from them, they didn't charge me tax or shipping. Not sure if that is still the case, but thought I would throw it out there...
Nice hint.

They have a kit with the 8G RAM Pi and 64G Micro SD card. US$149.99. https://labists.com/products/raspberry- ... -with-64gb
(You can save US$10 by substituting a 32G card.)
The LABISTS35 code doesn't apply. It does work with the item you linked to. I wonder what else this coupon applies to.
LABISTS10 does work. It gets the price down to US$135.00. Which is currently C$168.69 (plus exchange fees).
So: the 8G model is going to cost you about US$42 more!

I can second the case being very meh, as well as the included fan and heat sinks. I got this kit months ago to run a plex server, and with the stock case and cooling it ran very hot, very loud even on the lower fan setting, and the camera hole did let a ton of dust in. Got a 12$ish case with fan and heat sink included off amazon, it’s been running much cooler and inaudible. I haven’t had any issues with the power supply, though.

If you don't care about applications specific to Windows or Mac, you can use it as a desktop.

A home theatre PC.

File Server (you need to add drives obviously).

Retro game emulator.

Lots of stuff.

And the fan sucks. It won't last a week and the seller refuse to replace. A new fan is another $10

I'm using one as a basic desktop that I connect to with VNC, for specific things I want to keep isolated, no not porn :). One problem I had was the display going to sleep with no way to wake it up, I couldn't find a proper solution after searching so I just connected one of those "display emulator" devices.

Others I use mostly for retro gaming emulation, there are lots of neat pre-made images you can write to an SD card or an SSD, and many now include non-gaming stuff too like desktop apps and video streaming.
