Price in title please. :)

Seems pretty expensive and 10% Off is a cold deal.

Bought this a couple years ago. Great buy for the price! It's only come this low a few times, and is comparable to $150+ thermapen.

Have used for meats, frying in oil, etc.

Updated - thanks.

My understanding is these are professional grade instant read thermometers that should last a very long time. You'll end up spending more on cheap ones in the end vs one of these. I know I have on two cheap ones that suck and aren't reliable.

I have had this thermometer for a few years now, and a thermapen mk4 I've had for about a year.

I prefer the javelin.

-The display is bigger
- it gets a quicker read
- it does 1/10 degree increments vs 1 degree increments
- I prefer the thinner javelin form factor
- considerably cheaper

I too own both a Javelin and a Thermapen, and find myself using the Javelin more often. The ergonomics are a little better. But:

is not correct. The Thermapen does 0.1 degree increments, if you want it to. Open the case and use the menu button to set the display resolution.

I find the Thermapen is more accurate, more quickly. But a degree or two rarely matters that much and the Javelin is generally good enough.
McDealer: Good morning, gentlemen, the temperature is 110 degrees.

Best price I've ever seen for this. Usual sale price is $61. Love mine.

So very true. I probably went through 2-3 “cheap” ones before the Javelin. Would buy again if mine broke.

This is either ATL or within a few bucks so yeah it's a good deal. 20% or so off after coupon. Doesn't seem to go on sale often as I've been watching for a few months.

I have two cheap meat thermometers I don't trust so I splurged for myself and got some as gifts. Great gifts imo. Meats expensive so this is a wise investment.

Cold as ice. Lol okay. Move on bud this one isn't for you

started off with a $14 unit. it was slow and split open in less than a year. I found it a most valuable tool. I would suggest anyone looking at these to at least get one that is water resistant since it will be over boiling pots and steaming foods. i have the javelin pro. def worth buying. just wish it had 2 thing. an external c and f switch and on off switch.

Thanks, OP. I'm tempted but I'm not sure about paying that much. I've had a CDN instant read that's worked great for many years and is only $30 (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B0021AEAG2/), though that's twice what I paid. I'm in the market for a replacement now as the on/off switch has become a bit sticky and hard to press, and I don't feel like trying to open it up for cleaning. Maybe the javelin is faster, but I find the CDN very fast and for the price difference I'll probably get another CDN.

Nice, I was considering the Thermapen, but I thought it would be too much to spend on something that I would be using just to make the Cantonese ginger milk pudding. This is still a lot, but cheaper.

It seems there is no on button? Does it to an auto-on/off when you extend the thing?

Great deal.

I've been using this for about 2 years now - paid $65 last August. For an instant read thermometer you can't go wrong and if you cook alot of meat, fish and chicken this is a game changer. No more guessing when food is done.

Off topic but do u have a recipe for this? Everytime we make it, it never sets and still liquidy.
