900 sounds like a lot, but many of the legos are super small. Often times a single "brick". So it's actually not that many. Super annoying to clean up and not lose though!
I bought the previous sets that cost $50 each for something around 1500 bricks, twice. We already had a box of 1600 bricks, and then last year I got 2 x the 900 brick box. We still ran out of 2x4 bricks relatively quickly. I ended up buying around a thousand unpopular colours 2x4s on BrickLink because all those sets have is a ton of tiny pieces and after you get a few, they're somewhat useless.

900 is NOT a lot. I have about 25-30,000. Kids played with them but knew better then to lose or destroy dads toys! LOL

BTW....a replica house can use up 10,000 pcs.

If I am 100 or 105 and want to play with this lego set...who is going to stop me?
A little known secret, there is an elite squad of Lego Police who scour social media and covertly keep eyes on at risk Nonagenarians and Centenarians.

Our 3-year-old is just starting to pay with it. He was all about the duplo, before that. I would say duplo is a safe bet, especially if there is a younger sibling.

I also have an 11 month old and the lego has to be put away, if baby is out and about. This leads to the dreaded hissy fit.
