The OEM filters for these are so pricey!!
Don't spend five dollars on dry cleaning a shirt. Donate it to the Salvation Army instead. They'll clean it and put it on a hanger. Next morning, buy it back for seventy-five cents.

This + OP's shilling URL mishap, mixed in with the whole bag of "this seems like a very fake amazon review"-type brand leads me to believe that... well you've already read what I think.

I have a Taotronics unit that has been working well in my bedroom that's roughly 200 sq ft.

Really notice the difference in the spring/autumn when my seasonal allergies are the worst

Costco Winix seems to be working pretty well and it’s comes with 2 years supply of filters
I believe you can also buy cheaper generic filters for it on Amazon as well

HEPA filters are priced as high as OEM toner and drums are for laser printers. They shouldn't be that expensive but it is what it is. And if it's anything like having bad experiences with aftermarket toner and drums for laser printers, then oem hepa filters likely work better than aftermarket, though if they are worth the price difference for the consumer is a different question.

I saw DIY Air Purifier with a box fan and filter on youtube. I wonder if the merv 13 filter (vs 11 on the review) was used, the result could be higher.

This seems like a terribly done unscientific comparison of very different sized air purifiers. Wirecutter (NYTimes) recommends Levoit 300 and 400 as top picks:

I've been using this model since November 2020. It works great in my condo. I really notice a different in spring/autumn, but we also just leave it on low 24/7 throughout the year.

The Costco Winix will always be a good recommendation. If you just need one for your seasonal allergies, I find that the Ikea FÖRNUFTIG is already enough to control all the nasty pollen.
