Also available with other sizes as well, 4TB $727.97, but tracking history show $618.99 was the cheapest

Does the ps5 have an extra slot for this or do we have to remove the factory installed ssd drive and replace with this

The SSDs are factory soldered onto the mother board.

This is for an extra NVME slot that PS5s have for expanding storage up to an additional 4TB's. Easy DIY installer if you look up videos/guides online.

Thanks OP, good deal. I ended up buying one. Ideally I wanted a 2tb one w/ heatsink but they are over double the price. Tough to justify that at the moment.

this is a great deal. I'm using it in the PS5 and it is just as fast the internal SSD. Fluid.
I had to buy the heatsink separately.

Thats the rocket drive, and the OPs is the rocket plus - the plus is already overkill for a pc but for the $8 difference its prob the better deal.

Did you have to update the firmware at all using your PC? Wouldn't be an issue for me, but I'm curious as there seems to be some oddities in the reviews.

Someone posted a picture where they got like 4600 MB/s read speed and I don't even understand how that's possible unless the drive was defective.
