[Amazon.ca] Logitech C920x HD Pro Webcam - $79.99

The Logitech C920x is on sale for $79.99, which is $20 off the normal price of $99.99.

Historical Low according to CCC, but has likely been cheaper elsewhere.

Not the hottest deal, but it's a good webcam if you've been waiting to buy a new one and are still needing it for working from home.

C920e is also on sale for 105

Trying to compare them all to figure out the best buy.

The 920e looks like the same as the 920x except has the lid\cover.

Thanks! Didn't look at those ones, but I can add them as well.

You can also buy the cover separately. It's just a cheapo piece of flimsy plastic that goes over the camera. There are likely better generic ones available for a better price.

I personally have the C920S, but I bought it at the start of the pandemic and paid a lot more than was reasonable because everything was out of stock for weeks back then lol

E is business. X looks to remove backgrounds. I have a 920, great camera for camming. Excellent audio, glass lens, and 15mp sensor makes great stills. I found it needed a lot of the bells and whistles removed to work well with my 3d printer. Auto focus and auto brightness while great to keep your face lit and viewable do not work well for stationary objects.

fyi, the background removal is done with software, not hardware.
fwiu, all the 9xx cameras, the camera part should be the same hardware.

Just get the least expensive 920-series camera. The camera hardware is all the same, the difference is the software bundle and packaging.

The privacy cover is well built in the sense it's a $0.20 piece of plastic vs. $0.05 that everyone sells.

I think the 922x comes with a tripod as well if anyone cares for that.

Edit: I saw this on a YouTube review but can't find mention of a tripod on the Amazon page.

Unfortunately it's not sold by Amazon.

Here is what I found about the "e" designation: "E stands for H.264 Scalable Video Coding. The C930E C925E and the Pro Webcam support hardware H.264 SVC (Scalable Video Coding) encoding (which is different than H.264 AVC (Advanced Video Coding)). SVC is especially good for live streaming if your end point also supports it. All 3 are business oriented webcams."

Background is removed by software and can be done with any camera.

Unforunately the choice becomes pay dramatically more for a good camera with IR or pay a little for a crappy camera with no microphone with IR, there's no middle ground. If Windows Hello is what you're focused on, what about pairing a good camera like this with a decent fingerprint reader? Combining this with a Kensington Verimark is still cheaper than the top end Logitech with Windows Hello.

Thanks Frosty - Ordered this C920s, it's the best deal and the best hardware as it includes the Privacy Cover and is only $71.98 + taxes (including shipping).

The other software included with the other packages is essentially useless and extremely crappy based on every review out there.

Edit - Added this for thread helpfulness;
For those of you that don't know, each 920/922 model is exactly the same - only the software is different. If you care about software, buy a better suited software for the cheapest 920/922 model you can get your hands on.
